Actually, most people don't like ROTS best. I thought it wasn't as boring as AOTC, and some of it was better, but it was definitely not better than any of the OT.

Though this has been brought up before - some people have said that ROTS was the best Star Wars movie ever, they said the exact same thing about every movie that ever came out except for 'Hercules versus the Moon Men'...
but, my order
Star Wars
Empire (only barely behind SW)
Sith and Jedi fight for third (considerably behind ESB)
Clones and Phantom fight for last (well behind ROT J/S)

I'm having difficulty placing ROTS in my list. I've seen it four times now, and every time I have enjoyed watching it. I know there are a few plot holes, but it is just such an entertaining movie.

I guess I can rate the movies out of ten.

1. The Empire Strikes Back: 10/10
2. A New Hope: 9/10
3. Revenge of the Sith: 8/10
4. Return of the Jedi: 7/10
5. The Phantom Menace: 5/10
6. Attack of the Clones: 2/10

I can tolerate the Ewoks in ROTJ, I just can't stand the opening 30 minutes in Jabba's palace. It's so boring.

I think the reason ROTS gets such harsh criticism is because it has to bring 6 movies together. That isn't an easy thing to accomplish. ESB had no pressure aside from a ANH.

I dont think it will top Empire for me, but its second, with AotC and ANH tied for 3rd (I like them both, but for different reasons).

After I came out of ROTS I had to ask myself if I liked it better than ESB because I came out of ROTS knowing that I had a much more emotional experience than any of the other prequels. It could be post partem. At this point

1. ESB
2. Star Wars
3. Rots

Have you been smoking pot or something? 99.9% of film critics have said that ROTS is a better film than the previous 2 prequel films, but that it doesn't hold a candle to A New Hope and more especially The Empire Strikes Back. Most fans are in agreement with this sentiment. You only have to visit the various fanboy web sites to realise this.

Julie 123, you must really understand that people have diffrent tastes, there is no right and wrong in liking any movie! You don`t have to agree to with everything that majority of critics or "fanboys"' say. And many fans like ROTS more than ROTJ.

For me:

ESB
ANH
ROTJ
TPM
ROTS
AOTC

Revenge Of The Sith offended me on so many levels. At least with Phantom Menace, I could watch Liam Neeson act - despite people not liking his character, I think he was the only saving grace of that film.

AOTC was a complete throw-away and for me ROTS was not far behind.

C_c Melkor, How can you tell Julie that line and not the original topic creator? It's not as if one of them isstating fact; although, one of them is giving the more honest opinion about the series (julie). More people DO like the OT than RotS.

No, I don't think anyone, except hardcore prequel gushers, think ROTS is better than ANH or ESB. However, I think it's entirely within reason to compare it to ROTJ in overall quality (though I did like ROTJ).

Yes, Link to The Past, Revan47 could be exagerating a bit... but theforce.net is the biggest Star Wars site on net, and many people there say ROTS is the best. So this isn`t a marginal opinion.

Personally I reckon the best by far was Empire and that was due mainly to Mr Lucas having bugger all to do with anything other than the special effects.

Here is my order

1: Empire
2: Star Wars
3: Return of the Jedi
These next three are so poor as to make me cringe, but for continuity sake (although continuity is lacking in the star wars universe thanks to you know who)
here the are

4:Revenge
5:Attack of the Clones
6:Phantom Jar Jar Poo Poo

My personal favourite was the original ANH (okay, Star Wars). TESB would have won my vote, but there are a few sections where the plot sort of drags on. Don't get me wrong, I love Yoda, but the Dagobah stuff went on a bit too long. The six films, IMHO, from best to worst:

1. A New Hope
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Attack of the Clones
5. Return of the Jedi
6. The Phantom Menace

What's Clones doing up there, I hear you ask? I don't know why, really. I just *enjoy* it better than ROTJ (Ewoks) and TPM (Gungans).
