The pen for my graphics tablet is broken. Not just "experiencing issues" broken either, I mean completely broken. Not working at all.
So this presents a problem for the hand-drawn comics. I have one episode of "Heccubus Talks" set for next week. Aside from that, "Heccubus Talks", "Life As Death" and "Night Life Comix" will be on hold until I get the pen replaced or fixed.

What type of tablet? I have one pen here for an Intuos2 wacom tablet that won't work with my original Intuos or my new Intuos3 tablet. I'd be willing to sell it for a discount.

If it is a graphire, wacom sells pens on their web site.

Let me know if I can help. (I think I paid $79 for mine, so I could go lower than that.. maybe like $60? and use regular mail to get it to you. But I'll check on how much I actually paid.)

Is drawing on a tablet really that much easier than drawing on paper and scanning it? I'm just assuming you have a scanner at your new apartment-place.

Aye. Real cartoonists use scanners. I haven't even touched my tablet in weeks. I usually ink with a mouse.

I don't think a broken pen presents that much of a drama though, does it? I mean, they are designed to be replaceable.

srmoore:
Thanks for the offer. However, my tablet is by e3works, and has been known to cause a fuss over the slightest inconvenience that may pass its way. That and the fact that I don't have $60 to shell out for a tablet pen right now anyway.

ND:
It just saves a step, really. I do have a scanner, but it doesn't like scanning things properly at the best of times, so it would be an incredibly frustrating process to draw everything and then scan it. I guess the plus side is that my girlfriend DOES have a scanner that I could probably borrow, but she doesn't exactly live next door, you know?

Rhubarb:
As I mentioned to srmoore, I don't have the money to shell out for a replacement pen right now. This is where the problem comes into play. While I'd like nothing more than to plunk down $200+ for a new, better, super tablet, it's out of the question. And even the much smaller price for a new pen is out of my reach for the time being.

Anyway, I am looking into how much it will cost me to replace the pen, or if I can fiddle with it and get it working again (the casing has been opened to see if I can do anything with it, and I might be able to) but it's doubtful. If/when I get a solution worked out, I'll post it here.

Good news! I checked the e3Works site, and apparently I can replace the pen fairly cheap. It'll cost me $15 US, which is still beyond my budget for the time being. However, it is likely that I can replace it in the next month or so.

Thanks for the comic, Hecc, though I need to kill you for the breach of privacy.

And speaking of tablets, the title for my comic says Laura.

Okay, it took longer than I expected, but I have finally ordered a new pen for my tablet. After shipping, the stupid thing cost me $30, but it's on the way.

Oh. My. God.
Okay, so my system took another dive on me yesterday. After much consideration, it is going to be far better for me if I simply get a whole new PC. I'm going to be able to save some money, since I have two perfectly well-functioning hard drives, a working video card, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and a nearly-new CDR drive, so the cost will probably be less than $400 for a good system. However, this could take a little while. Until my new computer is ready and paid for, my internet access will be limited, at best. So I won't be popping up as often for a while.
Bare with me.

I remember there being a sale on used Dell computers down at that computer place beside Cheapies. I don't know if they still have it, but they were selling them for $200-$300, I think.
