When Padme is combing her hair on the balcony and she turns to the camera for the first time, who else got scared by her face?

Agreed. The Joker smile combined with the God-Awful dialogue was teh only time I wanted to stick my head in my popcorn box.

Natalie Portman can be very attractive, but she definately has some "Two face" moments.

My wife saw the film with me and she said that anyone with that kind of hair ought not to be brushing it or it'd take all of those curls out.

My girlfriend was like, "Is she not wearing makeup? What is wrong with her face?"

I agree. I have always found Natalie Portman really hot, but in that scene she looks worse than the puppet Yoda in TPM.

That's bad editing, because whatever the reason she did not look good in that scene, and really, the only thing she brought to the PT was her looks. We didn't need to see that ugly shot of her

let's see the gushers defend that tongue.gif

maybe she was pulling an ugly face because she was in pain...

PORTMAN: ah, george... if i brush my hair like this in this scene it will pull my hair out and hurt...
LUCAS: good, use it!
PORTMAN: but it's a love scene... do you want me to pull this face while exchanging pillow talk with Anikan Childkiller there...
LUCAS: that's the face women always pull when they're intimate with me...

It's no secret why Lucas' ex wife left him.

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what was "wrong" with that shot in the theater either.

Was her makeup off? Was the lighting different? She just looked like she was sick, somehow emaciated. In the other shots of her in the other movies (I have only seen like one other movie that's not star wars with her in it and she had a very minor role) her face is pretty round looking, etc. That shot of her looking off the balcony at Anakin also looks really different. I guess hair, makeup and lighting really do make a huge difference in an actress's appearance.

Natalie Portman looks pretty attractive, though in some other shots of her I've seen she can look pretty goofy.

Oh well, I guess it's like what they say about a lot of so-called "hot" celebrities (Natalie looks like a normal person off camera from what I've seen), it's all artificial. But in a sci fi movie you'd think they'd make sure they always looked their best, unless it served the story somehow. She looks tragic...

I saw the film again last night and that scene gets worse and worse with repeated viewing. That dialogue is so bad it is distracting.

It's her version of the "Sith Eyes". She was thinking about galactic conquest.

To me, that scene is the ONLY bad scene in the movie.
