Sir Genuine Class is the obvious cause for the magic "if".
As Alec G's acting ambiguities ("hello little friend," a glance here or there) effectively led ol' George to think, hmmm.... What if?
Gushers take this road: I Won't have to edit out THAT part eventually.

4 films with Obi and AG is in HALF of ONE of them (ok, so he keeps dropping in. Thank God he hadn't passed yet by Jedi.)

Still, his words live on as well as anything Boba (Jeremy or Temura) could say.
And Wal-mart stole the last part as their slogan.

Alec guiness made the role of obi wan deep. he, not ewan mcgregor gave us the feelings of a man who failed in being a jedi master and witnessed the annialiation of his best friends.

Particularly impressive given that Alec Guiness hated the movie and hated working on it, by all accounts. Still he handed in the best performance in the series.

Admittedly, he had better dialogue to work with than the hapless zeks in the PT, but still.
