I'm having the same problem with hitting the back button, but it only happens if I wait for the page to fully load.
And as a quasi-member of spreadfirefox.com, I feel obligated to tell you to Get Firefox.

About alt attributes- the standards say that text displayed when a mouse hovers over a image should be labeled TITLE, not ALT, so IE is actually wrong on this one. If you want Firefox to copy IE's mistake, there is an extension for that.
IE may have improved its pop-up blocking, but that's not the same thing as security. As of today, Secunia has 18 security advisories listed for Firefox, while it has 65 for IE. That's why IE gets so much spyware.
As for efficiency, if IE seems faster, that's because it's tied so closely into Windows Explorer. That means when IE crashes, it's much more likely to bring down your whole system than when Firefox crashes.
I apologise, but the inner geek compels me.

Really annoyed me, and was actually the final straw which caused me to throw up my hands in frustration, yell fuck it, and uninstall the damn thing.
Edit: Oh, and you can change where Firefox downloads to, it's somewhere in the options. I just didn't like the window that came up with all the things I'd downloaded. There was no point to that.

On Windows XP where it will group all the IE windows in the taskbar, it can be inconvenient to move the mouse down, then click on the group, then figure out which window is the right one. Since Firefox shows all the pages open at the top and shows their favicons as visual cues, the simple act of switching to a different page is less of a pain.
