In regards to Vaders identity, wouldn't the connection between RotS and ANH have worked better if Obi-Wan left Anakin to burn on Mustafar and that was it? We don't get to see Palpatine saving Anakin or putting him in the suit. (The "Nooooo!" scene would be left out. thumbsup.gif ) So when Vader is introduced in ANH it's the first time we see him in the suit, his identity would remain more of a mystery. Well, not really, but I think it would have worked much better.

I agree, as much as I love Vader, if only so we didn't have to hear the "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Yeah, that could've worked, but somehow Obi-Wan had to know he survived the confrontation----You know, it just all messed up as it is right now! How did Obi-Wan know that Anakin survived in ROTS anyway? Didn't he leave him there to die? I mean, at the end, they know---HOW!?

Yoda should've been chastising Obi-Wan: You should've killed him when you had the chance! I mean, it's total bullocks with this set-up. They're all training Luke in the OT to confront Vader and Palpatine (with what intent--certainly not to just to wound them and let them suffer, right? Not to talk to them to death, right?) The PT's make Obi-Wan and Yoda look like such MORONS!!!!!

GOD, THESE PREQUELS ARE SO FUCKED UP!!!!!! I HATE THEM!!!!!

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

Becuase if Vader didnīt appear in Episode III all fans will be bashing Lucas for NOT putting Vader on the film.

It is inevitable. The prequels will be always bashed no matter what. sad.gif
Sorry, you won't be seeing a smartass sig here. Try with the next poster.

The prequels could've been great! There was so much wasted potential here. And I disagree, the prequels were not damned to be "bashed no matter what."

Think about it. The glory days of the Old Republic. The golden age of the Jedi! The rise to fame and glory of Anakin "The Starkiller" Skywalker! General Kenobi! And on and on and on....

The problem with the PT isn't that it would be disappointing no matter what. On the contrary, the disappointment is the fact that there was so much untapped potential on the part of Lucas and his cronies. All he had to do was swallow his pride, and this self-righteous attitude that he is all things Star Wars, and consult with the true experts: The long list of award winning writers of the EU in all in its forms.

In my opinion one of the reasons the OOT is so good is because Lucas' involvment was so minimal. With the exception of the first film (and possibly ROTJ, depending on who you talk to) Lucas was not that involved in the writing process. Empire is regarded as the best of them all. Why? Lucas had the least involvment. He wasn't directing. He wasn't a writer on the script. He did the treatment, and acted as one of the produers on the film. That's all. He had an extremely talented director that knew how to handle actors, and allowed his actors to change things on the fly, and encouraged them to do what they thought their characters would do in that particular scene. As an actor myself, I know, this is extremely important! Case in point:

Original Empire Script --
Leia: I love you!
Han: I love you too...

Changed on the set by Harrison Ford, and ok'ed by Irvin Kershner:
Leia: I love you!
Han: I know.

Much truer to the character of Solo.

Sorry, got off on a tangent there. blush.gif

My point is: If Lucas had had the humility that is required sometimes of truely great men, then we, the Star Wars loving public, may have had a truely great PT to go along with the already great OOT.

Thank you.

It's a good idea, but I see one potential problem. Someone who was watching ANH for the first time after the prequels would still think Obi Wan was downright lying when he says "Darth Vader betayed and murdered your father", or just be really confused.

There's no need to keep a mystery anymore. The whole world knows Luke's father, Anakin, is Darth Vader, including people who have never seen the movie. Think of Lucas trying to make Palpatine's identity as Sidious mysterious, when there was no reason to.

True, never thought the idea would be waterproof but I kinda like his grand entry on the Blockade Runner as the first Vader in suit scene. Well, that's what you get when trying to fix something that really needs a major rewrite.

How does Obi-Wan know Vaders alive? He heard the "NOOOOO!!!" clear across the galaxy. smile.gif

I hated hearing Vader speak in this film.
He is part of the OT and his voice has now been desecrated by being used in this sorry excuse of a movie.
