Great work chef. And thus ends a legacy..... sad.gif

I printed off this lot and put it in my duo-tang with the other reason lists. The collection is complete!

Regarding NOOOOOOOOOOO

Yes, this scene was terrible, I actually cover my mouth with my hand and held in the laughter. It was that bad. It really made me mad as I left the cinema thinking about it, I just couldn't comprehend how some paid proffessional was able to NOT edited this out. How can the production cast sit through the screening and not say a single word. How can they avoid the laughter? How can they look Lucas in the eyes and NOT say "man that was really bad, get rid of that"

Blew my mind.

But then after discovering all the parodies surrounding the NOOOO, all the funny short animations "this is CNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO", I've come to embrace it. Not because I like IT, but because I like to laugh at IT.

PS- Casltes and the princes that fought it back!

EDIT

ROLF, I love CASTLES. I can just picture Bruce Campbell as one of the princes!

And so the thingies that brought me here in the beginning end... wow

Kudos to you, Chefelf. or, as those who have been here long enough to pick up the pieces of private self you leave lying around carelessly have been able to piece together, Nate Redcloud.

May the Force be with you.

The Episode III video game? The much vaunted ROTS game sucks?

It sucks so bad it's unbelievable. I can't believe how it got such good reviews. There's no camera control... you're often running towards the screen, getting shot at by droids you can't see. Not that it matters since you're an all-powerful Jedi anyway and can just deflect their laser fire.

I only played the first stage but it was utterly dreadful. It takes great liberties with the elevator sequence which was already like a video game in the movie. It's even more absurd with flying droids, etc.

I was going to write a full review but after playing it for 20 minutes I doubted I could stand to play the whole game. Maybe I'll do it later. It won't be as timely but I don't have the patience for a game that shitty right now.

Am I wrong? Is it not the most dreadful game? Even the graphics aren't really that great. Play control is terrible. And camera angles. C'MON! No third person 3D game in this day and age should be without camera control. It's the most frustrating thing in the world.

If they were trying to make the game an accurate reflection of the film then I think they got it spot on - it seems to be just as flawed.

You are right about the camera angles. First time I played it I think I got killed a few times, simply because I was trying to find the button that centred the camera behind my character. I probably ended up force-choking myself.

And how they managed to find a voice actor worse than Hayden Christian for Anakin I'll never know.

I though the same thing, the game really sucked. It really felt slapped together and lacked any depth that is not only standard but mandatory in this style of game. I couldn't figure out why this got average to good reviews until i remembered that no one is willing to make a bad review on a video game that is backed by a major company like Lucas Arts. if they give a bad review it just means they don't get advanced copys, "exclusive" interviews, or other goodies from the company for future releases. The game reviewers like everything is controlled by money.

Yes, but if you start editing stuff out becasue it looks stupid on screen, then where will it end? You'd have to take out at least the scenes with the giant lizard, all the scenes with the wookies, at least half of Hayden Christiansen's scenes, all of the Yoda-Palpatine battle and at least the surfing portion of the Vader-Obi Wan one, etc. And that is just this movie. How do you edit The Attack of the Clones?

Face it, once it was clear that the script called for Jar-Jar to be a major character, Lucas was commited to entering direct-to-video territory.

Rotten Tomatoes gave it like 20%. So you're not alone. Who gave it a good review?

Sorry to jump in here, I haven't read all the posts in this thread yet, but I wanted to post what I wanted to say before I forgot.

My personal thoughts on R2 "not remembering what happened" is that he does remember, and periodically says things to C3P0, like "Hey, there's so-and-so!" and that's why C3P0 is always telling him to "stop talking all that nonsense" .

My favorite nitpick was #87, the last paragraph. Imagining a ghostly emperor having a one on three lightsaber ghostmatch with Anakin, Obi-wan, and Yoda is hilarious!

Chef,

Great work as usual. If you're looking for additions at all:

1) Vader's Mask -- He doesn't need the thing to breathe, he just wears it because he's ugly! Even Luke knew he was supposed to need it to breathe in ROTJ!

2) Pro-wresting moves -- I love it when, during their final duel when both of them have lost their lightsabres, Anakin does a flying double sidekick right to Obi-wan's chest. Boom! Then, Anakin goes to do the same move again, for whatever reason, when Obi-wan gives him The People's Elbow. The next 5 seconds then reveal that their lightsabres were right next to them the whole time.

Nice going there, Chef. I guess that more or less ends the offical 'reasons to hate Star Wars'. I'm pretty much assured that we can all live down this fiasco with minimal effort.

Frankly, I'm starting to wonder just how I could ever have liked Star Wars as a whole. All the time I spent here, with all the criticism of both the prequels, and the originals, makes me think that prehaps I should have always regarded Star Wars as a bunch of simply 'good' movies and not all that spectacular. After the prequels, however, I don't think I can ever view them in the same light again. It's August now, making it three months since the movie release of ROTS. It's only a matter of time before it comes out on video, and when it does, I can have the movie marathon I've been talking about all this time.

Good luck with everything you do. I think I'll take a leave of this website for a while, but I'll be back after I've had my movie marathon. When that happens, I think I'll be posting in other places on Chefelf.com than the Star Wars forums! biggrin.gif

I know I just joined, too, but I'm in the same boat as Paladin. If these prequels were worth their salt, we would all still be exulting them and running to the theaters. I've been terribly disappointed in the presentation.

I've been reading through the forums and I see I am not alone in this thought.

Chef, you know what you have to do now. I think everybody would love it if you compiled a complete list of reasons to hate Episodes 4-6.
