On the other hand, I will admit that Palpatine himself isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the box. Why bother with all those convoluted political machinations, any of which could easily have failed, when he could just ally his clone army to the TF's droids and stomp all over the Jedi and the Republic?

The million dollar question. Really, this plot element could have "worked" if the Republic had actually had an army before Palpatine that he would have had to take over. Yes, they had the Jedi but we see the Jedi going down hard against both the droids and the clones in two separate movies.

Reason #68

I just wanted to point out that the statment "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." Is an absolute! Obi-wan should know better.

reason #70 "...While this scene is ludicrous, to say the least, it makes me wish that things like this happened on Earth. How much cooler would this planet be if opposing political parties used telekinesis to tear apart the Senate building and throw chairs at each other? Government may suffer, but think of how much cooler it would be. "

It actually happens form time to time in my country, Argentina.
Not telepaty needed.

Fantastic, Chef! You never fail to amuse me with those reasons to hate!

Seriously, though, I'm starting to wonder whether or not I can watch Episode III without having a nervous breakdown! But then again, I'm probably exaggerating.

Watching all the Prequels together, however, without skipping some annoying parts, is probably more diificult.

It's hard to regard someones opinion to me when they attack Ian Mcdiarmid's acting.

The "NO! NO! NO! YOU WILL DIE!" was one of my favorite parts of the movie, it was like he was so full of the darkside and somewhat of an exorcist moment. I looked forward to it everytime I see the movie and will continue to do so. I did not find it something to chuckle about in the least. Palpatine was finally unleashing his power after all those years of holding back. He's supposed to be a madman.
As far as those expressions on his face during his duel with Mace, what did you want him to do? Show no facial expressions whatsoever? Isn't NO expression what people try to call wooden? I like Palpatine finally showing expressions and agression.

No he isn't.

In ROTJ, he was calculating, cold, reserved. He wasn't a cackling idiot. Even when electro-frying Luke, he merely grimaced a bit, he didn't cackle and jump around a like a bloody baffoon with a rubber mask.

You did not hear him cackling various times in ROTJ? You are saying he is not a madman?

I just read reasons 61-70, no offense, but Chefelf your previous installments of reasons were pretty sub-par, but damn!!! These latest were funny as hell, I almost wet my pants!(exaggerated) Keep fighting the fight.

-Someone should mail these to Lucas and then make him do an interview regarding them, that would be funny as hell, almost as funny as the reasons themselves!

My nitpick at your nitpicks...

Can you count?

You skipped 55 and there are two 68's (not to mention listing '31' twice)

Apparently I made some huge errors in numbering the reasons. Mostly because the reasons were added, moved around, broken up and reassembled so many damn times. All errors have been fixed which, unfortunatley, now leaves us with 92 reasons but I won't tell anyone if you don't.

Where the heck is your editor? proofreader? Have these movies left you as scarred as the Emperor?

I'm not sure where my editor and proofreader are. They may be vacationing on Fiji with my chauffer, personal trainer and private chef. I'll let you know when they return to my chateau.

Hear, hear. That is the one thing that really, really irritated me with that scene, more so than 'oh, you're a Sith now, I give up'.
I dream of a better tomorrow... a tomorrow where chickens can cross roads and not have their motives questioned.

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes"

Dude, what the crap? Palpatine uses moral relativism to pull Anakin to the dark side, and now ONLY a Sith deals in absolutes. Did I miss something?

Here is a sampling:

"Do or do not, there is no try."

"CHANCELLOR PALPATINE IS EVIL!!"

"I will do what I must."

"If a planet is not in our records, then it does not exist!"

"Once you start down the dark path, FOREVER will it dominate your destiny!"

I'm sure there are more, but you get my point.

Chef, thanks for pointing out the Tantive differences between the OT and Prequels. I thought something looked a little off, but I had never bothered to compare photos. It really amazes me how sloppy many aspects of the production was.

About the Tantive. One little bit that I think I should bring up... maybe a sort of odd defense for the movie.

Just because the ship has the same name, it doesn't mean it is THE same ship. I say this because there have been plenty of navy ships in many countries that bore the same name. Take the Lexington for example. The US navy had many ships of the same name ever since the US navy was founded after the American Revolution. Even during World War 2, when an aircraft carrier called the Lexington was sunk during the battle of the Coral Sea, another newly built carrier was called the Lexington after the previous one when it was completed.

It could be the same case with the Tantive IV, but I could be mistaken, however...

tongue.gif And THAT was his strong suit.

Paladin, good point, Referenced in ST:TMP with the different Enterprises framed on the wall.

But the inside of NCC-1701 wasn't dressed down to replicate the (drop-test) space shuttle.
