I realize most people here aren't fans of the "Noooooo!" line at the end of Vader's birth scene in ROTS (though it really was a shining moment in James Earl Jones' voice acting career, wouldn't you say? haha). However, I read two interesting facts the other day that I thought I'd share. Forgive me if this is common knowledge.

There was a version of Frankenstein in which Peter Cushing played the doctor and Chrisopher Lee portrayed the monster (Lee is actually very tall, about 6'5'', I think). In addition, David Prowse -- the man who wore the Darth Vader costume in the OT -- once played Frankenstein's monster as well.

Learning those facts made it alot clearer why Lucas decided to make that scene an homage to Frankenstein. I'm still not sure if I like the one line in question or not. It's funny, but it's also appropriate to the scene. Maybe a different take of the "Nooooo!" can be dubbed into the dvd release.

I thought the scene itself was a good scene, and I thought that the NOOOOO wasn't horrible, even if it wasn't good.

My scene would've had him destroying everything like they showed, and then have him try to kill Palpatine, but Palpatine shows he's stronger and Vader submits. Instead of NOOOOOO, just have some incoherent screaming. I think that would've been better. But again, I didn't think it was horrible.

Hell, it's worth it so that all the parody sites of the NOOO came up. Those are hysterical.

Oh and I think most of us realized it was an homage to Frankenstein, though I think it's more to do with Lucas liking it than with SW actors who have been in it. It's just the execution that was bad.

The walk was fine......you'd expect him to have to adjust to his new body....The rest of it was horrible

Remember in ESB when the MF gets away from Vader at the end. We see a close up of his mask, and his slow saunter back to his quarters. Now that effectively showed his anger and dissapointment. They should've done the same here. A silent Vader, maybe with his head bowed, would've conveyed his agony so much better than a cheesy and badly acted "Noooooooooooooooo"

But I agree with Vwing....thanks to Lucas's insistance on overdoing dramatic scenes we have some of the funniest parodies I've seen on the net in some time. Darth No is great

The NOOO!!! seemed worse the first time I saw it, less worse the second time.

I still think they could have made him made a sound like the one he made when Luke cut his hand off.

I don't know. I just don't think the scene called for the giggles that I heard in the theater as Vader busted out of his cuffs. Something about it was humorous (I can't put my finger on it) and obviously we don't want that in a dramatic scene.

So...Grand Moff Tarkin was the doctor, and Count Dooku and the physical actor of Darth Vader were the monsteres at some time?

Wow.

the biggest problem with the noooooo isn't the noooooo it self but the physical acting that goes with it...

it just doesn't match up...
uncharacteristic dialogue: "where's Padme, is she alright?"
those are his first words?
right after choking his wife and responding to obi wans heart felt words with "I HATE YOU!!!" ... i mean where the hell did that come from...
what is meant to be there, 14?

but suddenly mister "I w4n7 p0werrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!11!!!1" is all "where's my beautiful wife I don't trust?"

the Nooooooooooooooo was lame becuase he has his elbows tucked right behind his back and is rocking side to side, he looks less like a tortured soul then he does a madigras pre parade queen who just had his back waxed!!!

------------------------------------

as for the frankenstein thing, that just pisses me off...

references to frankenstien, tarzan, and ET....
why don't they just have a sign up at all times saying 'product of 20th century earth'

it get's a little hard to loose yourself in the fantasy of it all when events keep popping up saying "remember this film? remember that film?"

if he was just going to do that anyway, he may as well have had sony eblazooned on the lightsabres, or pepsi signes all over courescaunt (sorry if i spelled that on Giff, i hope you can still get the point wink.gif)
