Maybe someone realized that in hangers where there is fuel for an xwing, it wasn't so good an idea to have open firing booster rockets? And we know artoo would tempt fate if he had 'em.

I dunno.. the whole thing is kind of silly.

I didn't have much of a problem with that, actually. I know it was all performed badly, but the basic idea of it isn't that bad. If he can shock an ewok and Salacious Crumb, why not a buzz droid.

It was dumb because it distracted from the action. The plausibility of it isn't bad, but the fact that it happens is just.... meh.
