Should Jabba be in A New Hope? CGI, original footage, or not at all?

If there were ever a good "Director's Cut" of A New Hope with all deleted scenes included, would you want to see Jabba in it? If he is, would you prefer CGI or original footage?

I know I might get a ton of flack for this, but I would almost prefer to see the original footage of a human Jabba in A New Hope than the CGI one. I know it breaks consistency between IV and VI, but the original footage is cooler than the CGI crap, and it is at least in keeping with the look of the original version.

I was thinking about this today, even though the deleted scene is really cool to see, I would not want any version of Jabba, especially if he's being established as already powerful in Episode I, and then Han Solo steps on his tail (they fixed that, didn't they now?), but even then a gangster as powerful as Jabba was portrayed in the PT, would not take the time to talk to a small fish like Han Solo. The information is redundant, and the CGI, no matter how many times you update it, will still need to be updated again and again.

Just take him out, let the viewer's imagination go to work until we see him in Episode VI. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I'd rather have no Jabba at all. All that the scene does is expand on what Greedo said in the cantina. That scene wasn't overly relevent to the story either (other than the establish Han's character... in the ORIGINAL version). The scene looks badly done, there's simply no way to get it looking right. Lucas seems to have this obsession with the scene, but it really doesn't do ANYTHING for the plot other than confirming information that we don't need to know.

Scenes like Toshe Station, however, are a bit more important as they establish Biggs' character (and make his death in the Battle of Yavin more powerful) and also show us some of Luke's friends. In the final cut of ANH, Luke is made out to be a total loner who just works on a farm with his aunt and uncle. I'd have liked to have seen a slightly more social side to him.

Nope. It useless, stupid, unessecary, pointless, boring, retarded....For reasons already stated. Give us more Biggs and less Jabba in any deleted scenes added in Episode 4

"No Jabba, no bother..."

And I agree Michel Orla, if anything give more Biggs so we can see just how much Luke admired him.

No Jabba - the scene has pretty much the same stuff as the Greedo conversation and its a pointless Boba Fett piece too.

I'd like to see some of the Biggs stuff - Tosche station, the full Biggs/Red Leader/Luke scene and suchlike.

Do a proper DVD of SW. Include all the "extra scenes" (toshi station, Luke watching the opening skirmish from Tatooine) on a special features menu and put it there. With the original Jabba stand-in.
Obviously, that was before the wisdom of CGI and acting to a stick.

No Jabba! I hate that included scene, especially when Han "steps over" his tail. It's like, crap! A sort of cut-out of Solo judders up and down in an entirely unconvincing way even tho Jabba does an enormous cartoon WAHHHOOOO bug-eyed look as an attempt to grab your attention. Blah!

There's really no good reason for Jabba to be in ANH. He has his time in the limelight in ROTJ, and that's good enough.

A little mystery works wonders...a point, alas, that seems all too lost on old GL.

It's almost as though Lucas is afraid that newcomers to the series might decide to watch only one of the movies ever, so he'd better cram in every character possible in case the viewer decides not to revisit the SW universe.

Face it - he failed Mystery and Foreshadowing 101.
But he passed Senior Fanbase Alienation magna cum laude.

I heard that Lucas doesn't plan on releasing the deleted scenes of the OT. I really don't understand why.

As for the Jabba scene, it doesn't belong in ANH. Han practically says the EXACT same thing to Jabba that he said to Greedo. It's silly.

I like the disgusting, obese, inert jabba rather than the slimmed up mobile one. I don't know why. He almost seems more threatning to me stationary. Plus the name "the hut" doesn't seem like he should be slithering around. Get that scene outta there. What happened did he become parapalegic or something??

I love your "No Jabba, no bother" comment. Huttese is such a funny language, how it sounds like messed up English. I still swear Jabba says, "Comb Leia nice," when he commands his guards to bring her to him.
