I don't know what it is.  Some felt that anakin's transformation to the dark side was a perfect sum of all the event leading up to it.  Others felt that is was arbitrary and unconvincing.  I concur with the latter.  Not rapping on you other peops.  It just didn't do it for me.  Yoda was the only character I felt bad for during the whole film.

I personally could have come up with a better reason for turning to the dark side for anakin.

I don't think Hans actions concerning Greedo even needs redeeming. Greedo basically tells him he's gonna shoot him then and there.

"If you give it to me (the money) I might forget I found you"
"Over my dead body"
"That's the idea, I've been waiting for this a long time *readies blaster*"
"Yes I bet you have..."

Hans choice is to shoot first or die himself. It's that simple.

"if you give me the money"

was enough reason to kill him if you ask me...

Well, I thought Mace was better in this film. Not as good as Dennis Haysbert would have been, but SLJ did alright.
The purple lightsaber however was a constant reminder: This is just a movie.

Aww, come on. Purple wasn't that bad. It was better than having another generic blue or green one. I mean, seriously, GL could've come up with a few more colors than green and blue...

KNOWING that the purple lightsaber was a special Lucas gift is what called it to my attention.

The same way KNOWING how good SW and ESB were in their heyday saves me from settling for less.

HAHA!!! Mace Windu.... what an evocative name! they should have just called him "Jedi Master Poontang Tity Wang Pimp Dady Mr. T" What an obviously TOKEN BLACK character. He was horribly miscaste. If you ask me, I would have had Lawrence Fishburn play Master Mace...err...some other name. (then again he would never have signed on) A female actress would be great. Look up Susan Gibson, she's a relatively unknown actress who would have been perfect for the role (very authoritative and motherly yet very sexy). Hell, a whole host of alternatives... What a lost opportunity...

Bill Cosby would have been perfect. He's kind yet he's always there pssing people off telling them the way that it is. As long as he wasn't allowed to wear one of his signature patchwork sweaters, he'd be my choice

It was very chilling to see Mace Windu bite the big one in such a manner.

Didn't it strike any as paradoxical that Sidious could lose to Mace Windu, who is actually somewhat weaker than Yoda?

I thought that Mace was supposed to be the best swordsman on the council.

There is some debate that Sidious really was not losing to Mace once Anakin became involved, he played possum top allow Anakin to fully turn. Who knows...

Actually, Anakin it can be argued, did the right thing by halting Windu from killing Palpatine.

Palpatine attacked Mace. Out of self defense Mace attacked Palpatine. Mace beat Palpatine to the ground and then gave him a mercy speech. Then, like an idiot, Palpatine says "NO NO NO NO" and starts shooting lighting at Mace. THis is the second time he's attacked (killed a bunch of Jedi the first time) so I think it's fair ground to kill the bastard at this point.

100% agreed with the scene being weak as hell. Anakni's cross over to the darkside was about as convincing as his love for Padme.

The character arcing needed to make the scene work was absent. Same goes with ever single relationship in the films.

Nothing was buyable. The whole story was sold on off-screen references and the idea that you'd not notice the acting, but the music and CGI

Lucas is a hack.

I tried repeatedly to think of a reason why you're not right about Mace killing Palpy... I couldn't. Palpy wasn't unarmed, he could've killed anyone with his lightning.
