Hello,

I'm in bed on sick leave due to a back injury. And having some time on my hands, started reading the articles about RevengeoftheSith.

I hope the two articles I posted proved of some amusement to you.

Their views summed it up pretty much for me. Lucas was always a C+ director who needed the help of other people to pull his ideas together. Now that he's rich and famous he can toss out the people who helped him- like his wife. And just employ a whole bunch of c@cksuckers to help produce the POS films.

I watched them... because I "had" too. Anyone born in the 70s and 60s grew up in the Star Wars craze when it was THE FILM to watch. I am a Star Wars fan. SW and Empire Strikes Back were Great films- which Lucas produced with the help of a large group of other people. I got hooked on the whole mythology since then and spent whatever pocket money I got on Star Wars stuff. But the stuff that Lucas produced afterwards were just shadows and copies of the original series. Even Return of the Jedi was a big anti-climax with Ewoks (aka Vietcong) defeating the Imperialist elite Storm Troopers (aka US troops).

Lucas is a hack. He's been coasting on the success of SW and ESB for years.
His lack of directional and writing skill is evident in the
last four movies he did. All he's good at is making money. That he did well
but he didn't produce classics that can with stand the test of time. In a
few decade times, the Star Wars franchise will die a lonely death. I
seriously hope Lucas will make a few more non-Star Wars films so that I can
NOT go see it. lol.

I.....I can't! It wasn't good until about 3/4 the way through, but that's 1/4 better than the others.

He is a crappy director and a worse screen writer, but he does have great ideas and concepts. Why do you think the number of films he has made are so few? He only cares about SFX. he wants loud sound and overwhelming visuals. That is why he is perfectly content running the whole Skywalker company. The sad fact is that whenever real talent is added to the equation, things pick up. Look at ESB, or Indiana Jones. When a good director or screenwriter gets a hold of GL's ideas things are good. When GL goes it alone, or hires some crappy British playwrite to spruce things up we all suffer.

You are right, his staff is now comprised of a gaggle of yes men who most certainly grew up worshiping him and probably reading comic books (people who read comics are almost always pathetic nerds that were beat up constantly in childhood). GL needs people to tell him when his ideas are bad, and these fan boys are not the ones to do it.

Prove to me that I like Coke over Pepsi...what's your point?

How can someone prove that your opinion of enjoyment is wrong? Do you ever bother to think just a little...ever?

That's your opinion, Lord Melkor. Not everyone has to agree with you. And even if you do like ROTS better than the OT, you have to confess that Lucas is NOT a good director. He has some great ideas, but has a lot of trouble transferring them to film. When he says he's a visual filmmaker, he means it. He wants big visuals, stunning music... and he gets by on that. He occasionally (often) forgets the story, acting, character development, etc.

The only Lucas projects which have been an all-out success as a GOOD film (not just one that people LIKE), are A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Most of the others have been either average or poor from a technical standpoint.

Yes, it is all matter of opinion. This is why I do not spend time arguing over the films I don`t like! I do not watch films I hate, i certainly do not bitch about them in Internet.

And I agree that are many flows in TPM and AOTC, which also reduces ROTS potential. But I still enjoy all Star Wars films, even weaker ones. Is this a sin?

There isn't any flow in any of the prequels... and yeah... its a sin. Lucas should have taken a lesson from somebody like Tolkien, whose world, Middle-Earth, was coherent and consistent for the most part.

And our society really needs positive attitude, in my opinion! This is what my girlfriend taught me, until I met her I was cynical and unhappy person, now I try to focus on positive things, like we all should!

You're on medication aren't you? Hahaha...

Society should have a positive attitude but not to the point where we accept mediocrity as excellency.

The worst culprit by far is Rick McCallum. Not only is he a complete yes man for Lucas, but he also makes up facts about Star Wars that just arent true. I REALLY understand Boba Fett's hatred for the Skywalker family as he nor his dad ever seem to meet Anakin, and Fett probaly doesn't even know or care who Luke is until ROTJ. Its bad enough he lacks the balls to be a proper producer for G.L., but the fact he doesn't even know the Star Wars story is pathetic

We know the real McCallum is such a wanker: as the movie Fall of a Saga shows us, he mixes tequila shots with Xanax.

The line about Boba Fett's vendetta is lamer than lame. What's next? Does Jabba the Hutt burn with hatred for the Skywalker family too because in the Episode II pod race he bet the farm on Sebulba?

Aside: the biggest comic-book fan I know is a married mother with three sons - hardly a loser. (Well, her sons are bigger fans of course but she's pretty into them too.)

And for having a positive attitude toward everything? OK, liking Episode III is fine, but this "it's the greatest movie ever!!!" crap makes Melkor sound like he should lay off the amphetamines. He's like the idiots who write fan reviews on IMDb or other places for whom every movie they like is "the best ever!! 11 out of 10!!!!"

I didn`t say that it is the best film ever. I am not sure any Star Wars film could be classified as best ever.

I am hardly a big fan of Star Wars, I think LOTR is superior as a Saga.

But this forum entertains me.
