For those who read the novel, is there anything (particularily dialogue) that you think should ahve been included in the film as well?

There was a line that Anakin gave near the end of the duel that I really liked. "You're called the Negotiator because you can't fight!". I wish there would have been a bit more taunting going on during that fight.

The ending of the novel, the internal thought process of Vader, was decent. Of course, that's almost impossible to translate to film. But it was much more powerful than the cheesy Frankenstein scene.

The novel also seemed to have more dialogue between Anakin and Palpy.

How did you find the actual quality of the writing though? I gave up on the AotC novelisation after about 30 pages.

The AotC novel was garbage...added nothing to the film. The novel to Phantom Menace was pretty good b/c it set up what was going on at that time with respect to the republic, the Jedis, l'il Annie having a temper...was pretty good in contrast to an awful film.

The new book is pretty in depth, worth a read for key scenes.

Lets put it this way - the author did the best he could with the story he was given. I actually enjoyed the novel more than the film.

I can think of a part that should have been removed from the movie that was in the novel. The Qui-Gon Jinn reference Yoda makes in the end is not only totally unnecessary, but also confusing. It's apparently explained in the novel.

To answer jariten, the writing in the ROTS notvelization is DREADFUL. The dialogue is much better than the prose, however. I find that he did a good job of making the dialogue flow much better than the movie but the prose is so terrible it's almost impossible to explain.

I'm annotating my copy of the novelization right now. There may be something of a review in that. rolleyes.gif
