Now that pretty much everyone has seen Ep 3, of the 6 SW films now made, which 2 or 3 Star Wars films are your personal favorite ones (compared to the others) and please say WHY, for each films named ?

If this has been discussed here before, please give any links.

I'm sure this one's been discussed to death, but here goes -

1. ESB. Why? Superbly done, great story, some decent acting for once, not a single extraneous scene. Dark atmosphere. Luke gets his whiny butt kicked.

2. ANH. The original and the best.

1. Star Wars. Perfect pacing, seamless meshing of characters, Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing and a visual experience the still thrills. Every character feels... right.

2. Empire. Though choppy in parts and lacking the perfect flow of the original. New characters, new worlds, new manner of fighting, Imperial March and the sheer pathos Vader and Luke generate in their confrontation.

3. Might seem weird to some: Sith. Serious tragedy and darkness, new locales which is always good, sucessful portrayal of Anakin and other good stuff.

Empire- has the strongest characterisation of any of the films, a well paced narrative and a great ending.

Sith- I dont know which I prefer. This is engrossing, exciting, dynamic, visually the best film i've ever seen, incredible imaginative design, darkness and a glimmer of light at the end.

3rd is a toss up between ANH and AotC. I like them both a lot, for different reasons.

I hope everyone is referring to the ORIGINAL movies and not the Special Editions?

I hope.

Irrelevant, Lebowski! Special Editions will be the only Star Wars that future generations would know!

Empire-Strongest plot and very character driven. Vader shows he's not a one dimensional villian, and Han Solo defines the modern day hero. Plus it STILL has the best lightsabre fight of the six

Who gives a rat's about the future generations?

Keep it alive through whatever means necessary.
The LD's will survive!!!
And here is the definitive order:

1. ESB
2. ANH
3. Jedi
4. (oh god....) EPIII
5. EPI
6. EPII

It's like picking your favorite arm blister but that's my prequel order. I feel so dirty.

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

"Irrelevant, Lebowski! Special Editions will be the only Star Wars that future generations would know!"

Not if we finish our tasks. The 1995 THX Remastered Editions to be re-released on DVD. Besides, the very idea of the Special Edition VHS and the DVD edition is disgusting. Revisionism is the worst mistake a storyteller can make, even more so than deus ex machina.

1.Star Wars.
2. Empire.
3. Sith.
4. Jedi.
5/6. Clones/Menace.

Tough call. I'm going to say that 3,4,5 are equal. They're like the meat of the meal. Then you've got 2 and 6 which are like the steak fries. 1 is the side salad. But, to be fair, I really liked Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn. He's probably the best character of the saga.

Fair enough, own opinion... agree with you for much of it.
Qui-Gon Jinn stronger than SW Alec Guiness Obi-Wan or ESB Vader?
Liam did a good job with what he had but... oh well. Nice name and avatar though.

Wow you guys are ubber anti ROTJ. So what if there were Ewoks. The Emperor Vs Luke Vs Vader sequence is still the best scene/sequence in the whole series in my opinion.. yell.gif

But yes for me it goes:

1) ESB
2) ROTJ
3) ANH
4) ROTS
5) AOTC
6) PM
