I feel your pain brother. I too have to get a summer job for both money and to keep my sanity safe from boredom.

While I haven't had the particular problems you have, I do find my age to be an issue. I am stuck in the body of a 18 year old, yet my true age is somewhere around 14. This is a problem in the states, curse you child labour laws.

But now, more than any other time, I've learned that it isn't what you know, it's who. I thank god that I have so many friends that can put in a good word for me at their jobs. I just hope it works.

I have to start looking for a real job. This seems quite daunting to me. Sure, I have plenty of experience with crappy casual jobs, but this is something else entirely.

Its thoroughly annoying, considering that the only people who've ever employed me, came through association with the family (same paper shop as the sibling, mother pops into pharmacy on her rounds and sees an opening... you get the idea).

As far as I can tell, you either get a job by knowing people, or you work in a supermarket...

I work in Blockbuster, a movie rental store. Not movies of dubious repute, either. Just went in, filled out an application, hung around until they gave me a time for an interview, and it all went well from there.

Well, I'll keep y'all up to date on the work front via the dubious means of the Journal, but this new agency I'm with appears to be actually finding me work. However, its thwarted somewhat by me sleeping, and my sibling being too dumb to wake me up when they phone...
