The formula produces a number, but what does the number mean?
30 customers, one doorman, one hour of cheap drinking and fifteen smacktards gives 7.5ish... 7.5ish what.

As stated, it's an accurate measurement of the asshole content\chance of a fight erupting. 4 or more is bad. 7.5 is just asking for someone to have one too many nad start trouble.

From my experience, too many doormen = bored doormen = over vigilant doormen = fight.

From my doormanning experience, anyone who knows they really shouldn't be walking through said door is bloody likely to start a fight, while saying "I left my ID at home" at the same time... well - thank heavens for really big torches (flashlights for some) with big handles.
That and boots... where would I be without boots - losing fights and getting sore feet is where.

I work at a football oval and I really feel sorry for the security there. The drunk wankers they have to put up with. If you want to work with idiots, sign up for security.

(note I'm not saying security are idiots, but rather the people they have to throw out)

True enough - you're guaranteed to run into idiots, because that's your job.
The best 'work with idiots' job would be cue-car driving... the police that drive unmarked sports cars and when some hoon tries to race them then "woooo" and ask the guy to pull over. That'd be fun/cool/poetic justice... or is it normal justice... I can never tell.

Why is it so many people turn into assholes when they drink? No matter how wasted I get, I don't pick fights, molest women, or randomly yell things at the tops of my lungs... The world just seems less cold and lonely for a little while.

What's wrong with shouting utter nonsense? sad.gif

But yeah, the fights and the molesting are pretty dumb.

Bar fights are cool! There's people breaking pool cues on each other and people getting thrown out windows. I watch too many movies.

That only happens in a pool club. In a bar you just get glassed which is about as fun as having your scapula retracted. Still - if someone breaks a bottle and gets funny ideas about the bottle and your face... if you're quick enough, just grab his hand and squueeeze... god that's an evil trick to play on people.
But all doormen are thankful for their big torches.
