Does anybody know of any good free live collaborative text-editing programs, especially with the source code availible on the GPL that's for PC and have linux/windows clients?

Dunno how well any of these work but:

http://docsynch.sourceforge.net/
http://www.codingmon...de/subethaedit/
http://www.masternew...ent_editing.htm

Hope these help! (Also if you end up using one, let me know.. I'd like to hear how you like it, and how you don't.)

CVS is a revision control system.. yes multiple people can edit the same file, and then merge the changes together.. But these tools are user interfaces for people working on the same text at the same time together... not indepenantly. (Hence the word Collaborative)

Don't get me wrong.. CVS is great for certine things.. but I don't think it is what he was looking for.

No, I'm not looking for a subversion thingy. I've seen that coding monkeys one (earlier tonight, actually), it's only for Mac OS X. I'll look into the other ones. I'm very much obliged!

Any updates on this system? Getting one of these in place could really help me out with editing my latest "Reasons to Hate" list. smile.gif

The SubEthaEdit one looks like the best one but unforutnately they only have a Mac OSX version available. sad.gif
