I also liked the little bit with Yoda Force-punching the Imperial Guards.  That two-second bit encapsulated what I felt Yoda should have been through the entire new trilogy - this calm little guy who doesn't do hyper-acrobatics or even use a lightsaber; he's so attuned to the Force that all it takes is a subtle movement to dispatch his foes.

Yea. I think Yoda shouldn't have even had a lightsabre. When people go to attack him, he should just stand still and their lightsabre should fly out of their hand and they fall over. He shouldn't have been jumping around and shit. And neither should Sidious. I think he should have been using lightning and chokes on people, not jumping around.

I liked Order 66, but it didn't hold with the idea of Jedi being aware very well. Getting attacked by your allies should be a surprise a Jedi can deal with, even if only to a limited degree.

This is true, I can't really argue with that. The only defense I could offer was how outnumbered they were...but I recognize that it's a weak defense.

I'm looking forward to nitpicking this film, but before I do, I wanted to officially state that I enjoyed the film very much. It was highly entertaining and I was impressed with Lucas's storytelling spanning six movies (and thirty years). What a great ride!

Most notably, the things that really sucked about episodes I & II sucked mostly in smaller doses and for shorter periods of time, so that generally I was swept away by the movie (bear in mind, I went alone, wife and child at home, and sat about 20 feet away from a ginormous screen, so as to encourage the 'swept away' feeling).

I liked Obi-Wan and Anikin partnering up in the beginning.

I liked having another space adventure.

I liked the epic plot.

I liked when the Clone Troopers activated secret order 66. (I knew we should never have trusted those guys!)

I liked the birth of Luke & Leia spliced in with the birth of Darth Vader.

I loved the closeup of Darth Vader's mask.

I liked the closeups of Yoda.

I liked Kenobi kicking a lot of ass.

I liked the slicing and burning of Aniken.

I generally liked Ewan's portrayal of Obi-Wan.

There were a few seconds where I liked Portman.

What was everyone's favorite part of ROTS?  (No cheating and saying "end credits." )

Personally, for me, it was when Padme realizes that Obi-Wan had hitched a ride with her to Mustafar and she just starts looking back and forth between the two Jedi as she knows what is about to happen.

Upon seeing the movie an additional two times it looks like she may actually be distressed because Anakni is walking towards her about to choke her but the first time I saw it it appeared that she had this realization that they were about to duel and that one would live and the other would die.  It looked like that inevitability was destroying her and that she wouldn't be able to live with the outcome, no matter what it was.

To me that was the best moment, even if I misinterpreted her reaction.

Wow when i saw the topic i was thinking and was gonna put this exact part. I thought that entire lil sequence when he goes LIARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR is pretty good and prolly the only sequence acted well between the two lol..

The best part? When Yoda put a hand to his chest and almost collapsed from the pain of the Godfather style executions taking place across the galaxy. It actually got to me... but not for long! Because less than an hour later I was laughing my head off when Vader showed that we wasn't a dreadful, evil Sith Lord... he was just a whiney little girl, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

I hate it when the hot characters die.

Finally, I loved the funeral. It was dark... sad... etc. Well, it wasn't really, but compared to the rest of the movie it had depth.

- Not really a moment, really just characters, but I thought General Grievous's guards were cool-looking, and very Star-Wars-ian. Kind of like droid sandpeople.

- The Clone Troopers doing their rounds on Kashyyyk. I liked the walkers, which looked like proper predecessors to the OT two-leggers. Nevermind that the whole Kashyyyk sequence was completely unnecessary.

- Obi-Wan's little speech to Anakin before their duel was right in line with the OT. It was as though Ewan McGregor were channeling Alec Guinness and not just doing a mediocre impression. Didn't care for Hayden Christensen's end of the conversation, though; he was trying way too hard to seem "dark" and "angry."

- The scene where a charred Anakin is crawling along the ground, after Kenobi has abandoned him, is pretty much exactly how I imagined the scene, even way before the PT. Couldn't have asked for much better there. And Palpatine kneeling beside him was a nice touch, as well.

But alas, for me, the best moments were just that...moments. Inevitably something distracting broke up those scenes, every time.

For me, it had to be Vader's first breath. It was a silent scene, with no dialogue. Just Vader, still for a moment, and then, you have his first breath. An iconic moment - I felt the whole cinema audience tremble in fear and excitement. It's not a fantastic scene or anything, but it was just really special for me. Shame it was spoiled a minute later by the infamous "Noooo!"

The battle of Coruscant at the beginning of the movie was an example of how CGI can be used to great effect. Thousands of ships battling in the skies above Coruscant... epic. I loved the opening, with the camera flying through the battle for at least a minute before we even saw a character. It would have even worked on Star Tours. Lastly, some may disagree, but I loved the idea of the cannons on the Invisible Hand (Grievous' starship) firing shells. Really weird, but cool.

The decent through the atmosphere of Coruscant was a pleasent surprise, seeing real Earth-physics applying for once. As you know, descending through the Earth's atmosphere causes spacecraft to reach incredibly high temperatures, and begin burning up after a while. Seeing this happening to the Invisible Hand was great, after seeing ships easily leaving and arriving at planets in the past without any burning up.

Another scene that excited me was seeing Alderaan. It's been covered in the Expanded Universe, but seeing it close-up on film was great. It looks like an interesting location - I hope it plays some sort of role in the TV series!

I especially liked when, in the aftermath of his beloved Republic being destroyed by a maniacal lightning wielding fiend, and immediately after witnessing his fellow senator's tragic passing, Jimmy Smits sees fit to utter,

We've always talked of adopting a baby girl.

So glad to hear it Jimmy! So glad not to impose in this time of dire galactic need!

First Vader breath behind the mask was by far the best moment.

I geeked out big time there, I admit it. Goosebumps on the arm.

I liked how Obiwan ended the fight so brutally, and also how pathetic Anakin looked SLIDING down the hill, groaning, and then catching on fire and groaning some more. I always feared that the fight would end in a draw and that Anakin would fall into the lava, or a big spout of lava would shoot out and smother him. But amazingly, Lucas made the right choice here. Obiwan actually defeats Anakin - and knows he's about win before he maims him - and then takes his lightsaber and leaves.

I liked when Palpatine asks, "They asked you to spy on me, didn't they?"

I also liked how Palpatine reveals he's a Sith and that Anakin ignites his lightsaber, circles him, then runs and tells Mace about it. I liked that Palpatine took that risk, and that Anakin reacted the way he did. In general, the scenes where Palpatine talks about the force were good.

I liked how all the pilots were played by Temeura and not a collection of politically correct faces ala' Phantom Menace (a woman, a black guy, etc) who can't utter lines worth a shit.

And I liked seeing all the Biker Scouts

I like the way that the doors on GG's ship started to automatically close after Ani destroyed the shield. that seemed logical.

She gave one of the worst performances in one of the worst scenes of the film. She literally fluttered her eyes and did a 'stage-dive' death fall. It was awful, she only needed to curl her forearm up over her brow before biting it to make the scene worse. Where do they get these drama school drop outs? Worse, who yell. "cut, it's a wrap" after that take?

But she's hot- there are very simple standards that need be met to appease most SW fans.
