Yoda is appearing in posters and teasers as a snarling sword wielding bad ass. Apparently Lucas's marketing team found that kung fu Yoda scores well with youths, women, and teens. The Boba Fett phenomenon rode its wave, and now they found that kung fu yoda from AOTC had particular buzz. In the film Yoda is rendered as a manic bouncing pinball who strikes a kata pose before each strike.

Yoda should have entered Palp's chambers, knock out the guards like he did, and then use the force to wrench the saber from Palp and render it into a useless metal sphere. He should have kept with his established mantra of no use for weapons and fought Palp only using the force, like a SW version of Magneto from Xmen. Instead he's a hyper blood lusting tazmanian devil.

I don't have a problem with marketing the characters, but marketing them out of character to suit new tastes is utter greed. snarling bad ass yoda is an unfaithful deviation, or he had a change of heart after heavy petting his snake for 30 years on Dagobah.

Hear, hear.

It is pure greed and a lust for the "cool" factor.
