I was under the impression that they did, why it had so much better reviews than other Prequels?

If you leave this forum, and enter the real world, yes people actually did like the movie. Critics gave it average to good reviews (it has a B+ according to average of yahoo critics). It has an A- from yahoo users, and is already ranked 130th on IMDB (8.3 out of 10). And don't bullshit me with "OGMOGMOGMG they are sw gushers, they'll love anything". Phantom Menace has a like 6.0 and Attack of the Clones has like a 6.9 or something.

It was the best from I-III without doubt. It should have stayed with the dark theme all around. The droids were cartoon villains and Grievous could have been so much more. If they made him respectable he could have had a life of his own like Boba. He's only being pushed by GL's marketers.

Some of the obviously bad lines like "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" really just ruined it for me and most everyone else. The theatre shouldn't be laughing, snickering and repeating the awful line after...it was that bad.

imdb ratings are wildly inaccurate. Something you should know about imdb: a lot of folks rate films a ten or a zero just to make a point, to throw the average up. A fair number also give it their genuine rating. But come on; in its opening week SITH is ranked higher than GONE WITH THE WIND. Of the top ten films of all time, two of them are LORD OF THE RINGS. The imdb ratings have always been a ridiculous joke.

I don't know anything about yahoo, but maybe the name says it all?

It was definitely better than TPM and AOTC, but IMO it's no way comparable to any of the movies of the OT.

I didn't like it.

I just saw the movie again this afternoon and this kid behind me said to his mom, "Can we see it again tomorrow? That was the best movie ever."

It was kind of cute. It made me remember my first viewing of SW.

I liked it, but I liked all the other ones. Unlike EP 1 and 2, I can at least in good conscious say to my friends that they should go and see it.

Its too early to tell. anyway like civ said those online polls can show us very little anyway. the reviews have been mostly good, but leave it a few months and they'll all do the same cowardly u-turn like they did with AotC, and pretend they never liked it at all.

In RottenTomatoes.com it has 83% fresh rating, cream of the crop - the "real" critics - is 72%.

Compare the cream of the crop ratings - PM has 40% and AOTC has 39%.

As far as I can see this movie turned out quite well.

I forgot about those "real" critics on RT.com. The more money you earn, the more valid your opinion. No, I cant see any problems with that.

In a way their critiques are more valid. They observe the film with a data bank of films from the past etched into their minds. They know where Lucas got his ideas for particular scenes, and from whom he lifted shots, dialogue, etc. They are almost never the zealot like nerds praying for the release on fanboards, and stroking one off to a Padme poster like so many of the devoted that will not admit to its blaring faults. Also, in reverse, they see the film as one should see it, as a piece of science fiction fantasy looking to entertain. To many of these critics it did just that, it entertained and wowed them. People enter from different perspectives and hold different opinions concordantly.

Well said!

So let`s summarize: ROTS was supposed to entertain audience!
It greatly entertained most of people who watched it!
So you can`t say it was an objectively bad movie, can you?

Like I said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If it meets your expectations, as it has met GL's then fine...
