I was watching through some of Special Edition ANH, while making my 'reasons to love ANH', and ran across something:

Han Solo says to Greedo: Even I get boarded sometimes, think I had a choice?

Han Solo says to Jabba the Hutt: Even I get boarded sometimes, think I had a choice?

This never occured to me that this mess-up was on the Special Editions. Must not have been paying close enough attention to the dialogue. What are your thoughts on this?

There was a reason the Jabba scene was cut. It was cut because it was the same exact scene as the Greedo scene with very nearly the same dialogue and only slowed the story. Lucas just put it back to experiment with a CGI Jabba and have him interact with an actor who wasn't there, kind of a precursor to the prequels. That's really all the SE is, a prototype for the CGI used in the prequels. I contend that if Lucas had never made prequels, there would not have been SEs, because he would have had no reason to experiment on them with this new technology.

That's an interesting theory. I already knew all about the man standing in for Jabba and the such. It explained some of it at the beginning of the movie.

Whenever I meet a notoriously vicious and violent gangster that I owe money to, and he's surrounded by several of his gun-toting goons, I always stand on his tail.

I think the DVD Jabba looks better than the original SE version. By the next time the film is re-re-re-re-released ILM might have got him even better.
Also, I'm pretty sure the novel for ROTJ mentions that by that time he had lost all his hair and got fat due to his excesses and disease. He looked the same in the TPM though. I don't know how old he is supposed to be by then, though.

I don't agree. At least Jabba looked like the puppet used in ROTJ in the original SE.

Fair enough. He was supposed to be a bit younger though. Oh, what am I saying? How can I defend the Special Editions?

Bloody hell - even the Hutts in KOTOR look better than that travesty in Docking Bay 94!

To me, they look TOTALLY different from each other.
