It is touched upon, just not with dialogue itself. When Palp starts fighting the Jedi, we are probably meant to conclude it was him all along. Just like we were probably meant to conclude that Count Dooku was Sifo-Dias (spelling?), at the end of AOTC.

You're wildly speculating and trying to pass it off as fact. Anyone who knows anything about SW knows Palpatine and the Emperor are one and the same. It wasn't like people were sitting there unaware of who the hell he was and then all of a sudden went, "Look, the Chancellor is really the Emperor! So he must've been the one cloaking himself all along!"

We don't know 'how'. How is impossible. How doesn't exist. How does he shoot force lightning?!?!? With the force. HOW is completely irrelevant on this subject.

That's some pretty nonsensical stuff you just posted there. OWK and Yoda easily explained to Luke "how" the force worked in ANH and ESB respectively. QGJ explained to Anakin "how" the force works in tandem with the midichlorians in TPM. And Palp pretty much explained to Anakin "how" he was created. "How" is not only relevant, but absolutely necessary.

at no point in ROTS is it ever explained how Palpatine was able to be right under the nose of the entire council without being detected. While you may feel that "The dark side clouds everything" is a sufficient enough explanation, I say given what we know about the force in the OT and even the PT's, that is an explanation I find to be beyond ridiculous, to say the least

Well ok. I dont agree. It perhaps isnt ideal to have a few lines of dialogue to sum it up, but its good enough for me. At least we arent at each others throats over it anymore!

WRONG. there is a telling scene in ESB with luke and yoda:

luke: is the dark side stronger?

yoda: no; quicker... more seductive.

there it is. yoda did not say, "well, it can totally cloud your vision." or, "a sith lord can be standing right next to you, and you won't sense him at all..."

I dont really see how those things connect.

I strongly disagree that "how" Palpatine was able to go undetected by the Jedi is irrelevant. However, if you're satisfied with the inconsistent and hole-filled meal Lucas feed to you, so be it.

well, you'd think yoda would mention the dark side's ability to mask itself - if, for instance a sith lord can be right under your nose for 2 films, then it would stand to reason he could walk up right next to you and strike you down before you could say, 'poodoo'.

What is "good enough" for you, and what is fully explained are two very different things.

I dunno, Obi Wan seemed to lie to Luke alot, perhaps Yoda does too. The darkside does seem stronger, as Palpatine goes by years undetected, and in the EU many more Jedi fall to the darkside than Sith come to the lightside. If it was stronger, perhap Yoda wouldn't want to tell that to Luke, as it would tempt him even more to take the easier and stronger path
