***I would assume Obi-Wan didn't finish Anakin because he was, you know, BURNING TO DEATH. People normally don't survive losing three limbs at once and catching on fire.***

If Obi-Wan was really ever Anakin's pal - he would have put him out of his missery. I couldn't let somebody I ever cared about burn away, legless like that. But I guess GL doesn't feel the sameway.

Maybe he wanted for Will of The Force to decide?

I think Obi-Wan walked away, because he knew Anakin was getting his rightful punishment after killing all the younglings and alot of the other Jedi.

So Obi-Wan (a jedi mind you) has now chosen the path of revenge aka the path to the dark side. That seems pretty unwholesome for a Jedi Master.

Speaking of, whats with Mace Windu getting all schizoid on Palpatine - talk about losing your cool...

That wouldn't be the path of revenge. You have to understand, Anakin's clothes catching fire, was a natural thing. It isn't revenge to walk away when someone is suffering for something they did. It's only revenge, when you are the one that set the pain into motion. For example: If Obi-Wan was the one who went down and lit a match to Anakin, and then shoved him in the lava, THAT would be revenge. But Obi-Wan just left Anakin there. Nature took it's course in setting Anakin on fire and burning him almost to death. Obi-Wan knew this... and let it be.

a good guy would still try to help his old friend. If Obi-Wan pulled Anakin up and carried him to the ICU, then Vader would never have been created. Obi-Wan's behavior is just not quite believable. His final expression should be anger, not compassion. His facial expression makes him look like he's going to run to help his friend, who is clearly not beyond the point of modern medical assistance. Instead he just walks away. its just a non-sequitur, IMHO.

I can already tell this scene is going to get a lot of harsh criticism.

However, keep in mind that he lost his legs and it must be extremely awkward to walk with robotic legs for the first time. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Anakin seeing that he has lost everything, and his first few steps as Vader really make you feel kind of bad for him. He's crippled.

Ummmm-K. I feel really bad for a guy who murdered innocent (and DAMN cute) little kids. F- this idiot. And this is something I don't need to see-- A moment of pity and clumsiness for one of the iconic bad guys in cinema history. PUH-leeez!!

Furthermore, his scream is appropriate. He gave up his life as a Jedi and turned to the Dark Side just so he could save Padme....and she died anyways. If there was no emotional response on Vader's part to the news of Padme's death, then the scene would have made absolutely no sense.

Like the sense it makes for Vader to still follow Palpatine after his wife dies. And he gave up being a Jedi so he could go into cahoots with Palpy to learn the secrets of immortality to save his wife but she dies anyway and obviously Palpy was lying but Vader will still do his bidding and blah-blah-blah.

Turd shining is NOT a respectable line of work.

This is how we all envisioned the scene would go:

The helmet is lowered and placed on Anakin's head. His resperator is connected and the gurney is turned upright. Lord Vader regains consciousness and looks around.

Vader: ...Is...padme...alive?
Sidious: We are not sure, Obi-Wan brought her into his shuttle and left just as I arrived. My men were able to track them however....

//skip a few minutes forward:

Imperial Officer: [bows] Lord Vader, we have intercepted a transmission from the hospital ship we traced the jedi's craft to. ....Apparently Padme has died.

Vader: WHAT?!?!?!

[The imperial officer grasps his throat and his eyes roll back, he is lifted 3 feet off the ground by and unseen force. The room shakes. The young officer's feet kick as he struggles vainly to break free.]

Sidious: (evilly) I'm afraid your wife did not survive...how unfortunate. (smiles) But...we can surely make Obi-Wan and his allies pay....

Vader: Rrrrrrraaaaaaghh!!!!! [slams dying officer into the wall, snapping his neck with a sick crunch] Commander, all ships to their coordinates, now!. They must not escape! I want them alive!

Sidious: Goooood.

----Darth Vader doesn't get sad, Darth Vader gets ANGRY!

Edit: Bad HTML! Bad spelling! Bad! Bad!

Wretched, I love this new version sad.gif

And what's all this crap reviewers are saying about how Lucas, "has fulfilled his promise?" What promise? So he didn't completely alter the backstory, and he fulfills a promise. Blow me. sick.gif
