Leia could easily have been refering to her adopted mother, since that is all she would have remembered.

Oh yeah, I was expecting a comment like that... So if it was an adopted mother, why the heck would Luke inquire about the adopted mother of Leia? What would he care? He wouldn't - the only link between him and Leia was their natural mother. Or maybe they had the same ADOPTED MOTHER? C'mon, how thick is that? He must have meant THEIR mother.

I am frustrated, I am angry, I want to howl. Really, I've just read in another review that we got the film we deserved. If the blatant disregard to any sense and logical connection between OT and PT evokes this is the sort of apologetic comment, then indeed, the majority of viewers got their due.

As far as I've heard the apology is that Padmé looks into Leias eyes before she dies and this is what Leia remembers. Beautiful yet sad. Luke is the second twin and does not remember his mom. I know, it's ridiculous but it is the official explanation.

Here's another little tidbit concerning Padmé. She doesn't die from the wounds inflicted by Anakin when he force chokes her, she dies of grief. So much for maternal instincts...

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE

The bitch dies OF GRIEF?

Let's see a scientific explanation, you fucks! If the force needs science to explain it, then Padme had better die of something a little more concrete than grief. Hell while we're at it let's speculate:

Jar Jar dies of angst
Mace dies of indifference
Nute Gun Rey tragically passes away due to confusion
Dookie dies of ummm I don't know, distrust?
The viewer dies of FUCKING DISGUST!

How precisely does this work?

"Oh no, the creepy bastard who used me as a sex object and choked me and liked to talk about people he murdered has died. Now I will not have to get that cosmic restraining order."

That sounds right. But dying of grief? Shit!

No, Storm is right. And because of this line...

Luke: Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?

We now know that Leia had two adoptive mothers because her memories of her "real mother" were, as Storm so brilliantly argues, of the first of the two of them. Such is the rich complexity of Lucas's Universe.

I think When Leia said that in ROTJ she was refering to Padme.
I think this probably a force related thing, since Leia was the offspring off Anikan Skywalker, she also possessed that power of the force.

Maybe it enabled her to have strong memories of her mother even at birth. If you recall she said that her mother was sad. Meaning she saw her mother during period of Episode III were Padme was sad.

Oh yes, force gives you also an infrared vision, a pair of gills and a glossy coat and tail.

Padme diad just after the birth, or so I understand from the bunch of spoilerific reviews.
When Padme was dying, she was freaking dying, not sad. Would you describe someone dying as sad? Moreover, would you bring a newborn to watch her mother die?
If she looked into Leia's eyes, why not Luke's eyes? She dies just between giving births?

Why do you have to do this? Why not just admit this is sloppy writing? Why not think for yourself, boyos, instead of just accepting the processed food of propaganda? Accept that Lucas in no fecking God, he is just a guy who can't write and whatever he writes is not a Scripture anyway?

Gosh, I am really worked up. Stop being apologetic, see sense!

It would seem that is the case. "There's another one in there..."

Yes, but don't you agree that it's still stupid for Leia to remember her mother?

See, that drives me apeshit, too.

For any legitimate complaint anyone can come up with about Lucas's stupid ideas, there's always someone to defend it. Lucas apologists can stretch logic to the far reaches of the galaxy to make some inconsistency or blatant contradiction in the prequels "fit."

I would be willing to make a few concessions here and there, if it were only one or two minor discrepancies. But Lucas toys with major plotlines and concepts and tries to retro-engineer them. I realize all too well that fiction is about willing suspension of disbelief, but willing suspension of disbelief only works when the unbelievable is made believable. It's not a free-for-all where any explanation is as good as any other.

...uh, yeah...

i always though mark hamil said the word "foster" way too quietly when delivering that line...

dry.gif

i can't believe that someone actually tried to defend that one...

but for the sake of harmony, i'm going to pretend that was a good answer and ask you a further question to justify...

why does the inhabitable planet of Naboo have an underground sea that runs through it's core at a nice cool temperature?
