Sorry, Kirbs, but if we're going to have a mod, he needs to be around. I still wub.gif you.

Good idea, mighty huge enormous great Barend.
Solid solution.

Who's idea?

QUOTE (floppydisk @ May 25 2005, 04:03 PM)
And I think there should be a sub-forum for completed projects so they don't clutter up the place with stickys.

Aye, I second that idea for the completed works forum. But I must turn down the suggestion that I take up the moderatorness. I do not deny that I have longed for it. In place of a dark lord you would have a queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth!

But no, I pass the test, I shall remain J M, and go into the west, and diminish.

Completed works could be good. right at the top.

my stuff's pretty forgettable, I've certainly left it on the side of the road.

But Barend's LOTR and Movie-goer's projects (SN and the SW features) ought to be part of pledge training around here.

As has already been stated numerous times, the Screening Room is already moderated. I do my best to keep on top of things in there. Like the rest of the forum, however, nothing can be done if no one is informing myself or Chefelf of problematic threads or posts. I can't check in on every single reply and every single new thread. If you feel that there are some things there that don't need to be there, then report the posts to myself or Chefelf, and we'll use our own discretion in dealing with the offending threads/replies.
As has also already been stated, we are pushing more towards having users post their material offsite, and link to that material from the Screening Room. Our friendly neighbourhood Hoffman has already done so, and I think it's good that he has. My own SR projects have both been moved to my own webspace, and will be updated there instead. JYAMG also has his OT parodies hosted on my site.
My point is this: whether the Screening Room is moderated or not, we're pushing people to host their projects elsewhere, and use the forum to discuss or advertise their efforts. These suggestions would all work fine, but frankly it still comes down to dealing with people who feel their projects are pin-worthy, or worth being in some sort of "best of" thread. There was never any intention to put emphasis on certain projects over others, and this is something that will likely continue. If your thread drifts into the archives and falls off of the first page, then I guess that's too bad. Bumping posts is frowned upon, so I guess you'll just have to accept the fact that you've had your moment in the Night Life spotlight and move on to something else.

Well, I just think it would look better if we had something at the top that says "_______ is moderator here. Break the rules and your testicles are his."

Quite. I don't mean to get on your tits about this, but what have you decided about the sub-forum?
