To the ChefElf admin mob...

the screening room is a damn cool idea - I've got my own thing running in there, but the place does get a little messy sometimes. There's no moderator, beyond the occassional trip from Heccubus, and a lot of the stuff in there isn't actual projects, just preparations for projects or little conversations. The place needs a little occasional moderation just as housekeeping, that's all.

Also, the trolls haven't found the place yet, but moderators help us if they do - they could do a lot of damage in there.

In short, in case you haven't guessed, I'm asking if there can be a moderator for the screening room.

I check it regularly, so trust me when I say that it's moderated up the wazzoo.

UPDATE:
I put up a list of guidelines that I think are fair. If anyone has a suggestion, as I note in the guidelines themselves, feel free to contact me and I'll make changes if they seem reasonable. I just slapped up some basic ground rules that I think everyone would want in place to keep things running smoothly, the entire list is open to discussion though.

Also, while the Screening Room exists, I would encourage people to host their projects on their own sites as much as possible. In this day and age anyone can get webspace for free. Creating content on your own site and then simply linking to it in the Screening Room may be a better idea for some. smile.gif

Also, if you see anything, use the "report" and it will be sent to an Admin. smile.gif

Yeah I discussed that with Movie Goer and I tried to catch Barend about it. We were kind of thinking that a few of the best topics could get a place of honor, to serve as inspiration to all those to come. Preferably Glamis, The SW outings, the LOTR parodies, the Nightlife comics, Starry Nights and Chuzzlewit.

I don't think there's any reason to place certain efforts above others. If we start pinning some of them, you know what's going to happen? User A is going flood the moderators with messages asking why their masterworks haven't been pinned. There's no way it would work.

Yeah, I'd like to avoid pinning anything if possible. It's not really fair to favor one user's work over another's.

Aa stated previously, use the Screening Room for advertising rather than presentation.

Just get some webspace and advertise your work in the screening room (and/or in your signature). You can have WAY better control over your format on a site elsewhere. You are still welcome to have a discussion thread for your work in the Screening Room.

Or you could even post preview pics or a preview paragragh in the Screening room to display part of your work.

Just some suggestions. smile.gif

How about one sticky thread with links to all completed works on it, just ask to be on the list, and voila, nobody has to dig through the 4 (?) pages of other projects.

actually... that sounds like a good solution.

but everyone would want to be on it, it's not easy to tell people they're not as good as others...

also, i like the rules up there...

you mean like that time i put bruzez and black eyes all over hecc, reader, and HK-47?

additional...

how about two sub forums for the screening room?

i mean the whole point of the screening room was to seperate the 56k unfriendliness of it from the rest but 80% of the projects in there are dialogue.

so how about a visual screening room and screening reading room?

just a thought... ( i don't have my heart set on the idea or anything, i just thought it might help)

There could be a sub-forum for those fabulous Chefelf parody/Image heavy satires, with Movie-Goer and Barend's efforts setting the standard and inspiring others to submit.

Ummm - guys... the invasion of the screening room is beginning as we speak... someone just popped up in the middle of it and made a completely irrelevant starwars post - rather similar to jediones assault on the lobby... the place is getting messy. A moderator might work, or if Heccubus did a firestorming pass and burnt some of the stuff there away. But if it gets invaded - we will need a Moderator of our own.
Someone with an attachment to the room - maybe Movie Goer or Barend or Despondent. Just to clean out some of the weird little things and make sure people don't turn it into a bullcrappy conversation arena.
