This wonderful place was formed as a place to relish in the stupid things GL has done with his SW legacy. Sorry if you don't see it that way.

QUOTE (Dark_Sith @ May 16 2005, 12:56 AM)
Yes, you are all nitpickers who have no life and hate the Prequels for immature little reasons.

Although I don't think Attack of the Clones is by any means a good movie, it does receive a ridiculous amount of unjustified criticism.

Is Dark Sith ascending to our hall of trolls? Is he a slightly more mature version of Use the Force? Is he an exile from theforce.net? Did he derail this thread?

Yes. To all of them.

The good thing is we don't get many of them. Jariten is a PT defender and at the same time a cool guy. He has this uncanny ability to keep SW debate from a personal level.

AOTC is an enjoyable movie, but many flaws keep it from being great, as is it should be!

All those diffrent aliens, worlds, there are made in beautiful, artistic way!

And I like young Anakin, I was quite similar to him once!

That's not a good thing. As for Deks being beautifully or artistically made, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I thought he was stupidly made.

I can't quite understand how someone who has read the Silmarillion has such high esteem for Attack of the Clones.

Damm, I only said I found this movie enjoyable, Mnemosyne!

I didn`t say I love it, I never had!

Didn`t you notice I am only a ROTS gusher?

I give AOTC 3+ stars out of 5.

Another thing:

Compared to books how many epic fantasy sagas there are?!

Only two: LOTR and Star Wars.

If only Necroscope was made a movie, or Song of Ice and Fire, even Wheel Of Time....

All those stories are better than Star Wars, but stunning visuals and music make the diffrence!

I didn't say you loved it - I said high regard... for me, 3+/5 is high regard for any movie, let alone Clones... but I am a harsh reviewer.

ROTS gusher? It hasn't even come out yet... meh, too tired to argue.

As for the absence of fantsay sagas, it is a fairly heavy thing to take on... only a very determined filmmaker can get one out there - also a great many things that claim to be fantasy sagas are fairly shonky pieces of work and so thusly don't get made into movies. Either that or they're such special interest stories or so intimately tied to games that they would be unsuitable for dramatisation.

By the way, TPM is bettet than AOTC! It is very good, if a bit childish movie, but feels more completed than more complex AOTC( which had editing problems!)

My rankings:( 1 means a bad film, 2 average, not very interesting or inspiring fim, 3 means a good film I like to watch more than one time, 4 is an excellent film, and 5 pinnacle of human potential)

TPM- 3,5 out of 5 stars
AOTC- 3 stars(would be 4 if it had better editing, some improved dialogue and love story)
ROTS- according to my heavy spoilers and TV spots between 4 and 4,5
ROTJ- 4
ANH, ESB-4,5

I had the misfortune of being given the prequels as Christmas gifts, decisions my relatives based on my history of being a fan of the old Star Wars films.

One day I tried watching some of the AOTC luv scenes with the sound off, and I found that the scenes have more atmosphere without the bad dialogue and wooden performances. Too bad George didn't do it as a silent movie.

Did anyone feel that the flight through the asteroid ring was just a rehash of the ESB chase? I did... only the asteroids didn't look real.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

After a few weeks of writing my script treatments, which were obvious flops, my hate for the prequels have burnt down a little, and I'm not so charismatic. But, AOTC talk gets me riled up again. I need help keeping my anger down, or I might say something to offend someone on accident.

Happy thoughts, SWIU, happy thoughts.

I scale movie on type of star rating and then star rating.
So 5-stars is for an excellent dramatic movie (I don't give 5-stars to certain genres), 4-stars is for an excellent movie of any type or a very good dramatic movie, 3-stars is for a balanced movie with no major flaws - most 3-star films are formula films. 2-star type is for movies with major flaws, and 1-star type is for movies that are utterly unenjoyable or only enjoyable as ridiculously bad films. Star Wars - 4 star type and 4 1/2, Empire 5 star type and 4 1/2. Jedi, 3 star type and 3. Menace, 2 star type and 2, Clones 2 star type and 2 but both for different reasons.

Why do you give Empire only 4 1/2?
