I agree w/ the chef that yoda not knowing about Chanceler Palpitation (whatever) is absurd.
But, I have a differnet theory.
Yoda actually DOES know all that will happen, (as I have long suspected Gandlaf did in LOTR), i mean look at the disgusted look he gives the chanceller in the beginning of II...
anyway, I think knows all, but, like the warrior in the bagvhad gita, is playing his part.
I mean, if he just killed the chanceller and anakin right off, we'd have a different movie -
come to think of it, why didn't elrond just push Isildur into Mt doom and be done with it??? Then he could keep pranging his daughter, in between beating up Neo....but I digress...

This is crazy. I do not like this theory. Send your theory to George Lucas, I'm sure he'll like it. tongue.gif

Well, how about the idea that Yoda knows that Anakin will turn to the Dark Side and kill the Emperor? I always liked to think that Yoda didn't tell of the whole prophecy because if Anakin knew about it, he might not even do it.

Yeah, everyone seems more stupid in the prequels. I can see Obi-Wan, because he was more wise as an old man, same with Anakin. Palpatine stayed the same.

agreed, yet I have a hard time seeing obi-ewan as guiness-kenobi. (like chef says "ben"? "BEN"?, geez...)

as far as it goes, I almost have to ask - What the Hell Happened?
NO ONE at skywalker ranch pulled the nitrous mask off lucas all during production? I have a friend who has a friend who works at Skywalker ranch sound (about 5 miles So. of where I work) and I'll see what he says - sheesh.

That would be awesome to have a job at Skywalker Ranch. Then I could cuss at Lucas everytime I saw him. And then I would probably get fired the first time I did it... but hey, I can dream.

Becasue that would have been giving into the dark side. A war between elves and men would have resulted.

I can see that answer - nice.
But, if the ring is destroyed, doesn't alot (all?most?) of the "evil" in the world dissapear with Sauron's end? But, then again, it would mean a premature end to the age of elves?
Maybe elrond could have avoided the battle by explaining that isildur shirked from his duty (the line of men failed).

These new members seem to really get the forum off-topic.

Now this is the best explanation I've heard. Makes sense. Like Yoda WE all know how it ends and still choose to endure the prequel trilogy. Most of us anyway.
