Neither do I much. I hated having to walk around and level up. I'm of the belief that you should gain enough experience walking to the next town once to deal with anything there.

QUOTE (A Link to the Past @ May 15 2005, 03:23 AM)
Yeah? Well, I personally like it when the game length isn't shoved down my throat. "Okay, go here. Then go here. Then go here. No, nothing there, go THERE." That didn't make any sense, but damn if I ever drop it. I'm not playing a rail shooter where you go on one path and never stray away for anything, I'm playing an Adventure, and I'll take something which encourages me to stray off of the path. That's why Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and to a lesser extent Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga are so much better than Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - Super Mario 64 was a six hour romp through Square's Mario world, which doesn't feel like Mario one bit. It's not a Platforming RPG, it's an RPG which happens to involve jumping. Back onto MM vs. OoT... What does OoT have on MM? Game Length? And what are you talking about, a 'billion side quests?' I gave the nod to MM's side quests because OoT's sidequests SUCKED. They were tied, but one of them happened to be nothing but fetch quests, so don't talk 'dull side quests' to me. Also, I don't see how you can like OoT's Dungeons better anyway. The existence of the Water Temple makes them fail as a whole.

So, let's compare, say, all of the Zeldas?

Graphics: The Wind Waker > Majora's Mask > Ocarina of Time
Gameplay: A Link to the Past > Majora's Mask > Link's Awakening DX
Storyline: A Link to the Past > Link's Awakening DX > Majora's Mask
Game Length: Majora's Mask > A Link to the Past > Ocarina of Time
Ingenuity: The Legend of Zelda > Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past (Zelda 1 introduced the series, OoT did 3D, ALttP sky-rocketed the series in the plot department)
Replayability: Four Swords Adventures > A Link to the Past > Zelda 1
Audio: The Wind Waker > Four Swords Adventures > Majora's Mask
Dungeon Number: LttP (13) > OoT (12) > LADX (11) = OoA (11) > OoS (10) > LoZ (9) > AoL (8) = TWW (8) > MM (7) > TMC (6) > FS (4)

Honestly, OoT can't compete with anything in any categories. Plus, MM's Dungeons are more advanced, sorry to say.

I'm sick of OoT fanboyism and FFVII fanboyism. MM takes a departure from linearity and OoT becomes 'clearly superior'. Also, how are EB's visuals lacking in creativety? So, what, if it looked like Final Fantasy, would it become creative? Also, how is it atrocious? Just because you can't see Ness hit a Runaway Dog with a Yo-Yo?

nice rant back there btw...

just to add a my short point, I like OoT and MM equally, and for different reasons... MM i like because I prefer playing as the original Link (some would call him 'Young Link' -obv not true) because i like the innocence and the feeling of vunerability being a child in a dungeon full of evil baddies (honestly, who says baddies nemore?) and yeah I really enjoyed the sidequests especially the bombers one because it was real long. the stray fairy side quest was a real bore though, going back through an old dungeon jus' because you have a new piece of equip that could(emphasis on could) help you to get that fairy back in dungeon 1. and OoT because of the epic feel it gave you and the realism in the layout of the map compared to MM's (N,S,E,W directions of the dungeons)... also how can you deny a Legend of Zelda game of Ganon/Ganondorf??! you've gotta have him in it! because you know you hate him, so you drive yourself, glued to the screen all the way through the game, jus' so at the end of the game you can get your hands on his throat... k bye all
