American Idol rocker, Bo Bice was in his hometown of Helena, Alabama today. Helena is a small town, just south of Birmingham. Anyway, he's being followed by FOX-6 (the local affiliate station) and has had non-stop coverage, including a concert for his small-town in a park right now. He was doing "Freebird" when they returned to news coverage. Some grizzled guitarist was getting ready to solo. And it was an excellent imitation of the original. You would expect FOX-6 coverage to be heavy. I have the morning show on tape for later, of when he rocked the FOX-6 rooftop (top of red mtn, overlooking downtown.)

Well it is news, and they cut to commercial. The coverage on NBC-13 was a little more objective. Kinda. They asked little kids what was their favorite thing Bo does (cocaine and weed come to mind rolleyes.gif.) They also reported Bo Bice was bringing out the stars. And at his Helena performance, NBC-13 told us, they had Lynard Skynard himself come and play on "Sweet Home, Alabama."

Let me add here, Bo DOES play guitar, and write original material.

Two MEMBERS of Lynard Skynard played on "Sweet Home, Alabama," Fox-6 just added. Bo sang four songs, was given the key to the city (on a chain so keep an eye out.) This happened two years ago when Ruben Studdard got the Idol VIP treatment of a jet ride to home and planned events.

Now there's a clip from show this am. "where the governor's true. Thank you Mr. Riley!"
(Bob Riley called Bo on Rick and Bubba earlier this morning. It's Bo Bice day. Reuben got a declaration, I'm not certain on BB.)

But his Mom's a babe.

I do hope that Bo wins over the other guys. I just liked how he didn't give into the make-over so much like everyone else did.

Yup, pretty damned good. And very different from the typical American Idol hopefuls.

The finalists tend to be pretty interchangeable, in my opinion. They're good singers in a predictable way. But Bo breaks the mould.

Too bad, he lost. So sorry, Despondant. But I guess 2 out of a million's pretty good.

Thanks, Floppy D. Bo did 'Bama proud last night anyway.

Carrie was marketable from day one. They didn't even show Bo's audition until last week. Carrie did really great Tuesday, with a strong connection at last. At least Ruben won his go around (a prior Idol winner from Birmingham).
