I've always thought of Evil Dead 2 as a remake of the first one. I can't remember exactly what happened, but at the time of me seeing them, it seemed that the two movies couldn't have taken place together (because of a number of continuity problems). Now I've run into a site that swears up and down that the movie is a sequel, and that it takes place just after the night of the first one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the bridge get destroyed in the first and second Evil Dead?
