Most everybody I know uses msn, so I run that. Most others have ICQ, so I also run that. I don't want to install and run another one, and can't be bothered with trillian or associates, so I miss out on talking to people who only use AIM, which as far as I can tell, consists of Slade and Jane.

No wonder I go with Trillian. Anything with tunnels and ports is too much for me.

I've never had any issues with a gaim installation. It must be due to a stingy work or school network that Chyld's having problems.

Maybe you can use a proxy. I dont know what that would do, buit I've heard of proxys before and I bet you could use one. Perhaps to get those tiresome stains out of your clothing.

I have Trillian, and I have no idea how to work it. It came with my new computer. Anyone know how to figure out what my name is so I can give it to people? I figured out how to add contacts, but that's it.

Well, having gotten home and installed Gaim, AIM works quite fine, but MSN doesn't. Can't authenticate, it says. Doesn't tell me anything useful, but meh.

I use Miranda IM for AIM and MSN, as formerly linked by Jon Gutner's Blog. Never had a problem with it. I think I once unsuccessfully tried to install gaim, a couple of years ago, and I hardly remember it. Doesn't it run better on Lunix anyway?

Yes.. GAIM uses AIM as the messenging system.

That is one thing to clairfy..

As for me.. I have accounts on MSN, AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo! Mostly I use AIM, followed by a few on Yahoo.. with one or two on MSN.. and I don't really use ICQ anymore.

I use trillian as my client, because..well.. I have to use all of the systems.

I was trying to install MSN messenger so I could talk to the one person I know who has it, but it kept crashing so I installed Trillian instead. It is coolness.

For some reason, I signed onto MSN, then signed on with Miranda, and it all worked just fine. Although the irony is that no-ones on MSN now...
