Every body has to give credit to nick gilliard. he has his own style of fighting, epay.
i recently heard that the obiwan vs. maul scene was to be 5 minutes longer but george lucas cut it to about 30 seconds. nick gilliard shit his pants when he heard that but he couldnt do anything.LUCAS IS IN CONTROL!!!!!!!

I think the fight that was cut down was when Maul was fighting Qui-gon on Tattooine. Nick Gillard has mentioned it was cut and it was a bit of a surprise to him.

I'll buck opinion here and say, "Good." Used to be that Lucas could make a Star Wars movie that didn't rely on half-hour-long swordfights to keep going. Saying that the duel in Episode I should have been longer is practically an admission of defeat: "There's nothing else in the movie worth a curse so let's at least have more fight choreography."

I don't often think Lucas makes the best decisions when it comes to this but as someone involved in filmmaking you have to be prepared for this. There is always plenty of good material that is left on the cutting room floor. He can't put EVERYTHING in the movie. You have to be professional about getting cut and just deal with it.

Forget about the battle, having an extended race scene in the DVD is what is needed!
Seriously, the battle would have been much better if it didn't end so aburptly. Even when I was watching the movie 6 years ago, I felt that it was too short, and a battle between Obi-wan and Maul would have really been cool!

If they ended up fighting for an extended amount of time it could really go either way. Maul is more experienced, but he's tired from fighting two Jedi. Obi's less experienced, but he's very motivated to avenge his master's death.
