George Lucas is trying to say this:

Whats Yoda's problem, anyway? Does he get extreme plastic surgery ever 10-20 years?

No - here's the real deal.
After the Clone Wars and the downfall of the Jedi, Yoda launched the band "Super Grover Attack" and began touring the galaxy, but started enjoying the self-destructive rock and roll lifestyle. After taking some hard drugs, he burnt out, moved to Dagobah and effectively did a Keith Richards. He aged immensely, picked up a nasty cough and became much more nostalgic and much less mobile. He then met Luke, trained him, but in the intervening years between Empire and ROTJ he tried some of his old rock'n'roll drugs again, and thusly died when Luke returned.
Sad but true.

Glad you liked it.
But seriously, its a good point - the PT Yoda is completely different between Ep I and II, let alone between the PT and OT.

Also i'd like to take this opportunity to plug the rememberer's takes, cause there's a new chapter up since last you replied.

Heck, yoda looking different doesn't bug me too much. It's the whole Yoda acting different that I don't like. I mean, how does the superior, "around the survivors a perimiter create", chief of the Jedi council turn into a seemingly contented, eccentric, "wars not make one great", hermit?

To me, the Yoda of the PT seems to be a completely different character than the Yoda of the OT. I doubt anyone walked into TPM thinking that Yoda would be head of the order, master swordsman, arrogant yahoo, etc. That certainly didn't seem to be implied by the first three films.

You're right. Even he whole character of Yoda changes in the PT. He isn't the Yoda we grew to love in the OT. Lucas took Yoda, and he screwed him up, in as many ways as he could. I guess because he had so little say on the character of yoda when making ESB and ROTJ.

Man, I got into an argument on another board with a poster who said the PT Yoda kicked ass compared to the OT Yoda. That's just wrong in so many ways. Unfortunately, most casual Star Wars fans have no idea the importance of Yoda in the OT, and how he looks or acts like an idiot in the TPM and AOTC

And not just the way he looks and acts...his speech patterns are all wrong too. Notice that he talks like a crazy hermit up until he reveals himself to Luke. From tha tpoint on he speaks pretty much regularly.

I have a question:

Which Yoda irritates you more, the Ep1 puppet Yoda, or the Ep2&3 CG Yoda?

Personally I hate the Ep1 puppet (the funny thing is, there were two different puppets for Empire and Jedi, and they look really close). Did ILM lose all their best sculptors in the past 20 years? What I hated even more were the apologists, saying "Yoda's younger - he should look different." I'm sorry, but what's with that nose? And is it me, or is he cross eyed? And his skin is a different color too. Stupid. And Frank Oz didn't do anything cool with him either. I could have performed Yoda in Ep1.

I hate the TPM Yoda, and AOTC Yoda, and just from the previews, I hate the ROTS Yoda.

simply put, Yoda should not appear in the PT.

He should be introduced as a new character in ESB. Period.

Now, that's seriously unlikely. He was a great Jedi master before the fall of the Republic. It only makes sense that he would be around in the PT timeline. Unless he took an early retirement. But isn't he like the pope of the Jedi? Around for 800 years, and he suddenly gets itchy feet? I thought Jedi served until they couldn't go on missions anymore, then stayed in the Jedi Temple for training and such....

go back to the "fossil"

there doesn't have to be a jedi council

yoda is just a jedi master. not the pope.

he does't have to be in the PT

In my FanFiction PT, to stop any controversy from deep conservatives, Yoda will not appear, and will only be mentioned once.
