Let it be said that I hated Hemingway. Dull undescriptive sentences, incomprehensible lines of dialogue stretching on to forever, etc etc. However I have found The Garden of Eden to explain him and his work in ways never attempted before. The narrative isnt about killing things in Africa or in WW1. It's about Ernest Hemingway thinly veiled as writer David Bourne. The narrative is strong this time and very interesting. He addresses both writing and sexuality in this book with honesty and frankness very uncommon for him. I believe it was the last thing he was writing before he began to slip and eventually killed himself. This book is a masterpiece and you should pick it up if you're a writer or if you just enjoy Hemingway.
