*shrugs* That's what GL wants us to believe. Doesn't really matter. I'm not buried in PT lore, except for my own prequel trilogy.

I urge you to check Star Wars Episode I-II in the screening room.

Wait. In the second animation, Windu swings his lightsabre way back at the end of the shot. He's leaving himself wide open in front. Now, as someone else here pointed out to me, a lightsabre's "blade" should have no weight or very little. Lightsabre fighting would be more like fencing with light foils, it seems to me, not like whaling away with a heavy broadsword. So what the hell is Windu fighting like that for?

If this is the kind of movement one would get while swinging a katana, that is excused as Lucas based his duels on Kendo, but if not... He truly has no excuse.

Ah, the spinning acrobatic human canon trick... that's a classic.

Also, I just want to say, Grifter, you've got a great signature!

Oh. My. God.

What the f**k is Lucas on? Palpatine's windmilling through the air isn't cool, it looks like some sort of Olympic gymnastic stunt gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Is Lucas now truly incapable of staging a realistic, interesting swordfight? You think of the classics: Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone in Captain Blood, Stewart Granger and Mel Ferrer in Scaramouche, and of course The Princess Bride and the dojo scene from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And a ton of others. Some of them were more or less pure swordwork, some made good use of the scenery (the Scaramouche duel is especially wild in this regard), but all of them show an essential restraint.

Even in the fantasy world of CTHD the fight between Zhang Ziyi and Michelle Yeoh keeps a nodding familiarity with realism. Zhang Ziyi does a lot of jumping around in the movie but in that fight scene she doesn't; it's fairly pure swordsmanship we see there. The one scene where she does jump and twirl crazily while fighting is played for laughs.

Lucas's judgment has completely deserted him. It's been said many times that, squirrelled away in his ranch in Marin County, he's forgotten how to deal with people. Is it possible that he's forgotten even about other movies and can't learn their lessons about what works and what doesn't?

Dude, I think that even kids would find this crap repulsive.

And if they don't... give them time to grow up, and they'll probably change their minds.
