Jedi starfighters Idiotic, contradictory behavior for a Je

They, of course, would be capable of piloting fighters and frigates at insane levels of skill and ability, but not as a first strike option. Why didn't they use them in Ep I? Imagine how cool it would be for a Jedi, Vader even, to be standing in front of a window looking out on a squadron of fighters and saying, "I'll take care of this..."
Vader would start popping ships apart while a good Jedi would start disabling enging parts or life support systems in the fighters to turn them away or, "..face the consequences".
How contradictory to the Original Trilogy to have Obi-Wan tooling around the galaxy in his own hot-rod when he seems like a bum in ANH looking for a ride by comparison?
I could say so much more but I am bordering on obsessive/compulsive.

"An elegant weapon, from a more...civilized age."
Since when is a giant flying blaster an elegant weapon? It's crap. And from the lack of response to this point I am wondering where all your priorities lie! This is a major, defining element for the whole thing. Where's Yoda's fighter with the especially long pedals for him to operat eit?
Bollocks.

In the new jedi order it seemes like Luke's academy has Z-95's for his students to use.
jedi need to travel.
Not at the mercy of others to fly them around at all. They should have cruisers and transports like in EpI with a crew at their command if neccessary. The whole point is that the Force is more powerful than machines. Don't you see? It's like a Vegetarian exclaiming how wrong eating creatures is, while wearing a leather belt, leather boots, a fur coat and burning a lamp fueled with whale oil.
The Jedi shouldn'r be bums. but by comparison to EpIV Obi-Wan sure looks like one when he is stuck on Tatooine with no way off. The Jedi should be in tune with the Universe and be able to get where they need to go based on foresight and mastery of the Force.
Why wouldn't a Jedi fight a saber battle with one hand and a blaster with the other? And don't make comparisons to Luke because we know he was using whatever was at his disposal and wasn't a true Jedi yet. Also, don't bring up the novels either. I haven't read them and don't care to know. I am speaking directly to what is presented on celluloid...or in the prequels case pixels. Bastards.

It's OK, there wasn't really anything wrong with it. To top it all, any one who goes around criticising and insulting people on such a petty basis isn't worth listening to. It's the content that counts, not the style.
I don't think we've ever seen any evidence that this could have been done... I mean, Darth Vader piloted a fighter in ANH and didn't seem to use the force much to take care of his enemies and was far more concerned with adjusting targeting system to get a clear shot on his enemies. He even brought two choice pilots to cover him on his mission to boot. What's more is, Obi-Wan described Anakin as 'the best star pilot in the galaxy' (although that point is very debatable in light of the prequels). Because of this, I don't think that having Jedi pilot ships and fighters around in combat is such a bad idea. Even they need personal transports when a large, bulky ship isn't available.
Dude, you're remarkably moderate compared to several other people I've seen!

For PT the feeling I get, is that Jedi Order is now some sort of a US Special Service.. or FBI, you know.
Having special Jedi Fighters is very much high on my list of things that destroyed the Jedi mith.

It's implied that Jedi are skilled pilots.
It's revealed that Jedi BUILD their own lightsabers.
We don't see ANY of this training in the PT. Which is Based around Annie's training.

Great point Paladin, about Darth's targeting computer. It would have made as much sense to just fire randomly. (btw, when Wedge pulled up and out, what was keeping him from firing at the TIE fighters from BEHIND? Probably the trace amount of midis in his blood told him Not to.)
We DID see Yoda in ESB exhibit how a jedi gets his car out the ditch.

This is why in my Episode II rewrite, I give Dexter a little bigger role (and he's not he owner of a diner, he's an old spacer, and isn't showing butt-crack either). Obi-Wan asks Dexter to take him to whereever he's going ( because Dexter's been around the galaxy a few times, and he couldn't use Republic transport because he didn't want anyone to know.

I certainly don't think that a jedi could just make starships explode and such through the force. They are moving far too rapidly to center on, I would imagine.

My point is that the JEDI have special Jedi Starfighters and they use them as a first strike method of combat. And do you relaize how fragile creatures are in the void of space? Once tear, rip or malfunction on a ship could mean instant death. Of course a Jedi master could rupture a hull if need be.
And of course, Obi-wan described Anakin as the best star pilot in the galaxy but this is when we thought of him as an adult. Jedi could be great chefs or cobblers too and not be aware of the Force within themselves. Being a great pilot shouldn't be seen as a bad thing for a Jedi. But once you're in training to be a Jedi Knight, these things should fall to the background of your skill set. If the Jedi had to man fighters in the thick of battle, ie Vader in ANH, so be it. To tool around the galxy in your special Jedi hot rod makes no sense. Where did they go? Why didn't Yoda keep one? Why didn't Obi-Wan keep one? Hell, keep two. Windu's gold and purple ride was available.

I would have loved to see a "Last Samurai" -esque scene in a Jedi village, with 30 blindfolded Jedi lined up doing Kata. The tempo increases and the background music gets quicker. All at once they ignite their sabers and yell then continue the form with open sabers. Man, that could look so cool. Especially if the cut in and out with another related scene maybe involving palapatine or anakin and padme or the clones training at the same time.
