Why are people so crazy about this film? I saw the trailer and it didn't seem very interesting, I hate annoying kids.

Then you should enjoy seeing those annoying kids get their just desserts.

Pun intended.

Didn't you read the book? Don't you know how twisted this story is? Combine that with Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, and Johnny Depp, and you've got candy for the senses. I just got back a couple hours ago from seeing it a second time (and forking out another four dollars to do so), I love it so much.

You can't judge a movie entirely by its trailer. And I'd say it definitely beats the old one.

Hmmm, I would shout out 'BLASPHEMY!' but this actually looks like a movie worth reserving judgement for. Though I am sorely dissapointed with using only one midget for the oopaloompas, that and how pale Willy Wonka looks.

But Gene Wilder will be my only Wonka.

Edit: Accidentally posted too early

The pastiness makes sense to me, I mean, the guy's been inside the factory for most of fifteen years. What are you expecting? A bronzed god?

Yeah, the sunglasses, the stilted social interaction (those cards that had his lines on them when he forgot what to say), the general eccentricity, that was pretty obvious. It's not fair to compare one movie made about a book to another movie made about the book. It's starting over, like Batman Begins did.

The oompa loompas freaked me out because it was all one face. The other ones got away with it because they didn't all seem CG, and had makeup.

And that Space Oddessy homage made me jump for joy.

Sigh. I dunno. I love Dahl, Burton and Depp in that order, but this film just looks really fucking awful. I can't even stand to watch the trailer, it looks so awful. I'm afraid to see it. How close is the trailer to the feel of the film, anyway?

Jane, uh, you aren't obliged to reply to this one. Let someone else field it.

I'm told that the movie is nothing like the trailer. I will be actually watching the film soon, so I can tell you then. But I am sure some-one else can do better.

No, the film is nothing like the trailer.
I saw the trailer, and I was disgusted at it; but the film, was much, much better.

Yeah, I found the trailer revolting. It looked like it was going to ride on stupid one-liners and a Johnny Depp OMFG Factor. Thankfully, the movie was wonderful instead.

I think the trailer did a pretty lousy job of putting forth what the movie was going to consist of. I mean, I got excited because the Burton/Depp fanboy in me just about soiled himself when I first saw it. I was very pleased with the movie on the whole. My only problem? The Oompa Loompa songs were annoying, and incredibly cheesy.

Hmm.

I guess I'll wait until it comes out on. I *was* just planning to avoid it forever, but we'll see.
