Dare me? ANH, ESB, ROTJ

You cant have a bigger weapon than the Death Star. Dragon Ball Z ran into that problem. Once you destroy a planet you really can't do more.
If you are going to ignore the battle of endor and destroy EU. THen make it the invasion of Coruscant and have the Vader duel inside the Emperors palace throne room.
That doesn't make sense though because a revised ROTJ would have the rebel fleet on the brink of collapse like in ESB.
Have Endor hold a Summer palace for the emperor? lol
Honestly, i don't think ROTJ was that bad. yeah it had problems. but cmon. The moral of the story is that if you're going to be the emperor of the galaxy. Don't ignore the danger small aliens pose and never think you're invincible.

Not making a second Death Star is stretching it a tad far. But I may be able to pull it off. If I could make something like... the construction of a new fleet of Star Destroyers... that would be a great threat, would it not?

i liked them as a kid. now when i watch ROTJ they just seem out of place. I just liked a lot of EU that refers to the Battle of Endor and the 2nd Death Star. EU usually doesn't refer to ewoks though, but you can't move wookies from kashyyk to endor and still fit in. That's why i say modify the Ewoks, maybe change their name too. The catch is that if the indiginous species were a threat the empire would take steps to protect itself. IMO. EU says that Palpatine really believed in the superiority of the human race over alien life, hence why there are no aliens in the Empire (except Thrawn). Palpatine's undoing is from underestimating Vader and the Ewoks. Now, some of the biggest problems are their stupid antics and the fact that their combat tactics didn't make sense.. yeah they could trip an AT-ST but how can you take out a stormtrooper with a club? You can't. The most annoying part of that battle is when it starts. All the imperials just run around for no apparent reason. "Dumbest...rotj scene..evar."
Now, what's short and fuzzy but kicks ass in a very serious manner? Dwarves. I think your key is to make the Ewoks more like hardass furry alien dwarves. Insignificant enough to be overlooked, but believable asskickers when the time comes. In GL's ROTJ, you only see one ewok holding up a blaster in victory. Now, if you cut out all the scenes of Ewoks with slingshots and replaced it with Ewoks with blasters and E-Web cannons, now you're making sense, right? A midgit with a gun is a a dangerous midgit. Get rid of C-3PO Golden God scene and the human sacifice scene, replace it with the rebels arming the entire village with heavy weapons, or just something to make sense. Its workable. without totally changing everything.
Yeah they should have been wookies but its too late to change it now.

Dwarves... that's interesting. Hairy dwarves instead of teddy bears. These dwarves having blasters... getting good... I'll consider it. But if I have a majority saying it is Wookies, I will use Wookies. However, I will present the idea of dwarves to the suggestion-givers in my new thread. I urge you to copy and paste part of the last post you just made, into my new thread labeled 'Suggestion Checklist'

Then you can leave in the Wicket scenes, but digitally replace the Ewok elders with full grown wookies. You can totally redo the ground battle of endor, b/c its easy to film new scenes with stormtroopers and wookies fighting. Know what i'm saying? In the battle, the irreplaceable actors of Han and Leia really only interact with the droids and imperials, so you can leave those scenes in. If any ewoks are in the shot, they are just young wookies pitching in.
As for badass ewoks/dwarves, i'm gonna quote myself from another thread:
Hell, give me a camera, a crew, some fans with stormtrooper costumes, a few little people and ewok costumes, some props, and a digital computer with effects package and i'll make those new scenes for you to insert.
and reiterate
idunno. I honestly think that ROTJ is the weakest film, but its is reapairable with today's technology. The strong Yoda/Luke , Vader/Emperor/Luke and space battle scenes make it worthwhile.

Ewoks originally bad and giving the ewoks blasters fixes the most egregious problem in the film
After that, i think the script was fine but executed poorly because Harrison Ford didn't give a fuck and Leia was on coke. The only actor who cared was Mark Hamill and he is at his best.

The only thing I would change in the entire OT (except for SFX fixes) is to make the Ewok Battle of Endor scene shorter (more time/empahsis for Luke and Emperor) and less of a comedy and more dramatic. Keep the ewoks though.

And I have made some ideas. This thread is very old my internet standards, and I want to revive it some, or at least give people a chance to look at new ideas. I have changed my mind on a few things: mostly about ANH. I will change the name slightly, to differentiate it from the real one... and I will make very minor changes to the story/dialogue. So I didn't lie when I said "I wouldn't touch ANH." That was over a freaking year ago.
Just changed my mind is all. Alright. The names of the new OT will be...
Episode IV: A New Hero
Episode V: Reign of Darkness (I may change this later)
Episode VI: Revenge of the Jedi (No, Jedi don't take revenge on principle, but in this one, Luke does.)
Star Wars: A New Hero
These are things that set this version of episode IV away from the movie.
- Han Solo is more harsh and spiteful toward the other characters.
- Obi-Wan does not die in this movie.
- The dialogue is darker.
- Darth Vader is many levels higher as far as being evil. He beats and torchers Leia to get the location of the Rebel Base.
- Emporer makes an appearance through a holographic image.
