I'm just curious as to answers. By the way, I consider anything uttered by Jar Jar Binks, anything uttered by Threepio, and the infamous "you are softer than sand" line to be permanently retired from the contest. Also it needs to be a real line, not just "Yippee!!!" or some other exclamation like that.

There are a lot. At the moment I vote for Obi-Wan's "You will go home and rethink your life" order to the cigarette salesmen. The cheapest of cheap laughs.

biggrin.gif I loved that part, dont see what the problem is.

Worst line in Episode I: anything to come out of Jar Jars CGI cocksucker.

Worst line in Episode II: Every horrific line that came out of the fireplace scene with Anakin and Padme. I balled up and cringed in the theater when this part came on. I swear I was covering my face and I turned red from the embarrassment. Like Chef said about one of the reasons to hate, "this scene just refused to die" LOL thats exactly how I felt

that scene has so much potential too if you just mute it.

yknow, the more i think about the relationship, the more i realize it should have been a passionate one night stand like the one between Reese and Sara Connor.

Anakin's "My heart is in agony" rubbish was pretty grating on the nerves.

I love the parody of the "I'll be the most powerful Jedi ever" in A LOST HOPE: Anakin delivers the line (in the most petulant way imaginable) while using the Force to levitate an electric razor and a toothbrush.

I'll add, "Around the survivors a perimeter create" from Yoda in Episode II. Watch ESB and you'll notice that while Yoda does occasionally use that reversed syntax it isn't often and, when he does use it, it's often for emphasis (i.e. placing important words at either the beginning or the end of a sentence. E.g. "My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained" - "my own counsel" and "trained" get the emphasis.) it's better style. But in the prequels Yoda speaks backwards all the time, even if the results are ridiculous.

Like everyone else said, pretty much any line spoken by Jar Jar Binks, Anakin and Padme is craptacular. I've always been deeply annoyed by Padme's "Must have been difficult having dedicated your life to the Jedi. Not being able to go to the places that you liked or... do the things that you like." (that line took forever and a day to get out). The Anakin line "Quiet as a tomb." is strangely annoying for some reason (this line comes just before the speeder chase), as is "You're going to pay for all the Jedi you killed today, Dooku."

Speaking of which, Count Dooku's first meeting with Obi-Wan has some dud lines; Christopher Lee sounds embarrassed to even utter "Oh no my friend. They've gone too far, this is madness." (he probably was embarrassed).

C-3P0's dialogue when he's being knocked around the droid factory (surprisingly durable for a robot who can't even bend his knees) and when he's out in the Gladiator set with his head on top of one of the anorexic Daffy Duck robots.

And while I can't pin a particular line, the exchange between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett bugs me, mostly because of how stilted the dialogue is.

Would Padme's fake laugh when Anakin says "Don't worry, we have R2 with us." count as a line? Padme's casual "Oh, Anakin's not a Jedi, he's still learning" also gets on my nerves, and not just because of its bad delivery but of its sheer bluntness and inconsiderate nature. Sure, he's an immature lunatic, but putting him down like that in front of her rabble of a political cabinet was just cold.
I am the Fisher King.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

Ep I: "Are you an angel?"

Ep I are you an angel DEFINITELY.

If we can't rag on Jar Jar, sand speeches or other stuff... Threepio's comedy hour of "what a drag""I feel quite beside myself" was just CRAP!

Though the "I hate sand, because it gets caught in your butt" line is the worst, it is, as above, withdrawn from the contest.

That's a hard one, there are so many to choose from. I think "we will not survive this" is the worst line, because when someone says that they're NOT supposed to survive. Come on, who didn't think the Jedi were going to slaughter them horribly? But apparently the viceroy was too important... for some reason or another.

Episode two is really hard. Hmmm.... worst line besides sand... Well... I think it would have to be the dialogue between Obi Wan and Dooku. It did nothing for tension and only served to confuse the viewer.

If I'd seen these films dozens of times, I could cite chapter and verse. Other than the exclusions and those mentioned already,

"I shall Make it legal."

Oh man. I remember finally convincing my ex gf to watch AOTC with me (like an ass I hadn't seen it yet), and even more than Anakin's "soft as sand" crap, the two "witty" lines Threepio mutters in the battle arena made me sorry I ever made the poor girl sit through the whole movie. Even 5 year olds seem to wince at those two horrible, horrible lines of dialogue

"this is my girlfriend, Beru"

any line involving "m'lady"

how about the "gundarks" line.

ykno, one of the deleted scenes shows anakin visiting Padme's family on Naboo. I think its one of the best scenes in the movie (b/c there aren't any glaring problems, lol). Hayden and Natalie are in their romance-movie element. Anakin talks with the father while the girls talk about him in the kitchen and encourage her to like him. Anakin isn't mature and isn't even creepy!

Naturally it got cut b/c GL is a dumbass.

It would be interesting to see the stuff that got cut - to see if there is any good stuff in there - since GL's strength is not in editing, and also interesting to see the pre-CGI'd film...

Maybe he'll release a STAR WARS EPISODE I - III SPECIAL EDITION in 2019 when he has no money anymore, and is senile (assuming not senile now, or in fact back in the 1980s when he made the Ewok cartoons)
