A lot of parodies, good and bad, have been made in the wake of Episodes I and II and I got to wondering whether George Lucas has ever specifically responded to any of them. In particular I'm thinking of the hilarious "Fall of a Saga" short film. Ironically "Fall of a Saga" has helped me retain some respect for Lucas; even though it's probably not true I want to believe that there's a good storyteller somewhere inside Lucas still and FOAS works with that premise. Does anyone know if Lucas has commented on this or any other parody? (Not counting general remarks about how he doesn't care if people don't like his movies.)

Some directors have a good sense of humour about parodies. Some years ago there appeared online a GOODFELLAS / CASINO / RAGING BULL / TAXI DRIVER parody (uneven but not bad) called "Fast Food"; reportedly Scorsese laughed at it and asked the guys who made if it he could have a copy. My guess is that Lucas isn't as classy as Scorsese.

I think GL did go on record and say he liked the Troops parody years ago, can't remember if he commented on anything since though. Does that count.

I want to go back to the films of the 80's, where plots were simple, and explosions happened regularly....

I had read, too, that he liked "Lucas in Love."

But then again, none of those really criticized him.

Haven't heard word one from Mr. Lucas regarding "Fall of a Saga", and, most importantly, not a peep from his lawyers either.

Not that I've actually done anything illegal...but you can sue anybody for anything, these days.

My personal opinion has been that Lucas stands to benefit more from silence than commenting. Just his attention garners enough clout that by saying, "How dare they make Fall of a Saga?!" would give us about a half million hits.

You can't really blame Lucas for not really mentioning any of these. He can't even keep up with official Star Wars things (like the books and video games) so I bet a large portion of the parodies, etc. get ignored. smile.gif

And I agree with SR. He'd be best served to keep his mouth shut if he disagrees with any of it. He'd just look like an idiot if he started whining about parodies. If you're getting parodied, you're doing somethign right.
