It's not deathmatch, the computer controls them. I guess at higher levels their attack patterns improve. Plus they have guns. At low levels there's not much equipment\stats difference.

Certainly not, but to avoid making the same mistake I did, stick to mugging people who have money, as opposed to the no cash wanabees that give you $10 a time.
