Grevious is bad ass, I dont know what the big deal is. I guarantee if the internet was around in 1982, pics of Jabba would be going around and people would shit on him as well. There's been a disposable bad guy in every Star Wars flick, dating back to 1977. Tarkin, Fett, Jabba, Maul, Jango and now Grevious. It's nothing new at all. I know we haven't heard of Grevious before Episode III but so what? ILM did a great job bringing the character to life, at least watch him in action before you flame his ass.

the beef is that he's not a desposable bad guy like jabba, greedo, tarkin, fett, or a wampa. From what I heard he's a major character.

The PT sorely lacks a good villian. Maul died, and we have no clue who Dooku/Tyrannis really is. Now while we're actually curious about Dooku/Tyrannis we get Greivous shoved down our throats. Face it. He was only made to sell action figures.

What the PT needed, among many other things, was a homogenization of Maul and Dooku, fleshed out and made to survive until a final confrontation where Anakin kills him for his crimes and takes the villian's place at Palpatine's side.

If you want a General Greivous as a General Veers/Boba Fett/Jabba character. Fine. Obviously the PT we were all dreaming of would have a need for great killable villians. Greivous just seems like yet another case of GL ADHD like Jango Fett and that lame assassin who didn't shoot obi wan in the face.

You're right but still....Grevious serves a purpose, he's more like a precursor to Darth Vader than anything. He has more personality then Maul and Dooku combined, I think people are really gonna like his character.

the perfect PT villian would have been, like you said, a Maul/Dooku hybrid, a cunning, ruthless Sith with an interesting origin and a great onscreen presence. He could have been the man behind the man (Palps), running the Seperatist forces and in the end, tried to become the ultimate Sith Lord by recruiting Anakin and challenging Palpatine, of course he would lose but thats the Sith way; the apprentice must become the master by any means neccessary. That would have been pretty cool.

but fuck it, this is what it is and I for one cant wait for Episode III.

Yes, and the Names disappoint exponentially with each passing proper noun.

I think you came to the wrong forum, Storm Shadow. You're looking for the Force.Net.

A freakish CGI manga experiment has more personality than Christopher Lee? No matter what the circumstances, it simply couldn't happen.

I think this Storm Shadow guy is a bit of an idiot. He's talking about the personality of a robot, based on a picture.

A ROBOT.

A PICTURE.

I mean, really.

Jabba is stupid too, now that you bring it up, Storm Shadow. It's impossible to take him seriously as a villain - what does he do except sit there and cackle? He has moronic sidekicks and the action scenes in which he's involved are probably the worst in all the Star Wars movies (well, except for Episode II.)

He's half human/half cyborg......like I said earlier, he's the Vader prototype created by Palpatine, a twisted experiment. And if you've read the book you'd know he's not a bad side villian at all. Damn lighten up man, you sound like you barely know anything about this movie and you're talking all this shit about it.

GG actaully looks alot better than I expected, though I hate his name.

Storm Shadow is right, it seems as if you all haven't read up much on ROTS. He's that that big of a player.

Look... I didn't NEED to read Star Wars novelisation to understand ANH (before it was Episode I), and I didn't need to read the following novelisations before or after of ESB, or ROTJ!

Everything was self-contained.

It is a big, fat-in-your-face FAILURE that you NEED to read exterior sources to understand/appreciate a movie. That is bullshit. A movie should stand on its own gawd-damn feet!

GG comes out of left-field. He's a nobody character with no apparent origin, no apparent motivation, except to look "kewl" to wet-behind-the-ear fannyboys.

RE: Jabba

Jabba was mentioned in Episode IV.
Jabba was mentioned in Episode V.
Jabba in Episode VI... PAYOFF

Greivous

Never mentioned in Episode I.
Never mentioned in Episode II.
Episode III... who the FUCK is this guy?

Dooku

Never mentioned in Episode I.
Mentioned in opening crawl... but since when does a nobody character get a mention in an opening crawl?
Doesn't show up until 2/3rds into the film, and it's so anti-dramatic, I don't give a rip... and still we know nothing about his guy, but yet we're suppose to hate him/not trust him, what not.

Bull...shit... writing.

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"

exactly how hard is that? 1st off, i don't know where you're getting your info about this android/cyborg/alien (george lucas to himself "i need a cool new villian. android? check. cyborg? check. alien? check.), but how hard is it to, in your words, 'have more personality than maul and dooku combined?

we know absolutely nothing about either of these characters!! maul barely spoke, dooku wasn't introduced until 2/3 into the AOTC... and both had exactly ZERO personality. so i guess 0+0=0.

biggrin.gif ^ exactly! One thing I notice with people who hate the prequels...they're always comparing! Always comparing to the OT.

"Well ANH has this, and TPM doesnt have this, and Luke did this, but Anakin did this and it was stupid, ESB was this and AOTC was that..." man come on. It turned out differently than the way you pictured it in your head when you were a drooling milksop of a child...sorry things turned out that way, but it is what it is.

Now I'll admit, the CGI in AOTC was nothing but video game graphics, but looking at ROTS I'm impressed by how real alot of this stuff is looking. People, you really need to get used to CGI, in 10-15 years its gonna be the standard. Welcome to the future.
