Good Luck with the prequels. I have very little doubt that you'll be able to outperform Lucas in THAT field! smile.gif

Cool. Wish I had the time and energy to do that, but I don't. Anyway, I'm sure that whatever you do, it'll be far better than what Lucas gave us.

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Are you writing it in script form or story form?

They sure do, especially the Knights of Darkness (heck of a lot better than 'Attack of the Clones'!).

But still, I think that Rise of the Empire would make a better title for the third installment (or more correctly, the sixth installment).

I'd go with The Collapse of the Republic but that's because I've recently reread The Collapse of the Third Republic by William Shirer.

I think 'the fall of the republic' goes better, but I guess I never read that book... how was it, anyway?

The Collapse of the Third Republic is an amazing book. It's very thick but it's probably the best summary for popular readers of the reasons, both military and political, why France succumbed so quickly in 1940; William Shirer, the author also of the much better known The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, was a journalist, not a historian, and so he was good at writing in a way that ordinary readers can handle. I didn't think it was dull at all but then I'm a little nuts about WWII history.

Thanks for the warm reception - its a very handy thing to have while you're making something like this.

As for the third title... Revenge of the Sith (Lucas version, not Rememberer's) hasn't come out yet - so until the bets are called, it's neither good nor bad, and I thought I should use the title for some reason. Rise of the Empire works - I thought of it and Rise of the Emperor, and I tried Fall of the Republic, Fall of the Jedi, the New Order,
but in the end I basically went why not Revenge of the Sith - though I reserve the right to change it before release - most likely to the New Order.

It will be a story - not quite webcomic, not quite online book - with probably a balance of image and text. Final scripting still pending - all my key scenes are prepared but I still need to flesh it out.
Images likely to be paint and photoshop - though if I could get a scanner and scan my sketches so I can do them up on the computer that'd make things a whole lot beter - the pen is mightier than the mouse.

One of the joys of webcomic is that I can actually get Alec Guiness to play Obi-Wan... Just as soon as I can find a good screencap from 'Doctor Zhivago' or somesuch.

Don't forget the Ealing comedies like The Lavender Hill Mob and The Man in the White Suit if you want early Guinness pics.

I did look at those - but the black and white is an issue... paint colourings distort texture, and pixia does an all over the shot colour balance change. I could separate all the elements of his face on paint, then do colour corrections on pixia and reform him on paint again - but that much mousework would make the simple logistics impractical - especially since I'm going to need a number of contexts and moods for him so I'll need a lot of images - also I quite liked him in Doctor Zhivago...
Also I have to find an Anakin and a still-to-be-fleshed out Amidala replacement... as for the Dark Knights of the Sith I've done design sketches and storyboarding for the very first Dark Knight we meet and I'm going to need a scanner as there's no way I can make him on paint.

Any and all readers - casting suggestions for Anakin would be appreciated. Criteria are hair colour matching Luke or Leia, good physical presence - rugged enough to fit the role of a soldier-turned-knight with a desert upbringing - with strong enough facial feautures to convey the emotional range Anakin and Vader need.

Well, Luke has fair hair and Leia has dark hair, so pretty much any shade of brown or blond would be OK. However, remember that fair hair is a recessive gene, so two fair-haired parents can't have a dark-haired child.

Oh, yeah, Guinness is great in Doctor Zhivago, and creepy as well. There's one scene where he's talking normally to Zhivago but also narrating about what he said on top of the conversation; the effect is very disturbing and perfect for the scene. I've never seen anything else like it. David Lean was first-rate.

Who'd be good for Anakin? In the past I've mentioned Christian Bale but he's very dark-haired and probably wouldn't be appropriate. On the other hand he's done a lot of good films going many years back - he started out as a child actor, after all - so if you needed models for Anakin over a good span of time Bale might be a good choice.

I'm not really familiar with the young actors of today. What sort of age range are you thinking of?

But then your model doesn't have to be a contemporary actor. You can go back as far as you want. Hell, why not James Dean? Dean Stockwell? (A bit too odd-looking, perhaps.) Bruce Dern? Of course you'd need to seek out pictures of any of these actors when they were young.
