It's no less ambiguous than count poison dracula.

Why not?

Incidentally, does anyone out there know what Maul and Sidious mean?

Well, to 'maul' something is to mangle and destroy it, and 'Sidious' presumably comes from 'insidious' (i.e. 'subtly dangerous and threatening').

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

May as well have called him "Darth Mutilation" or "Darth Castration" (the novelization of TPM actually mentions Sidious having a mentor named Darth Bane).

With Anakin's lecherous ways, I'm almost surprised he wasn't re-named "Darth Bation" (as in Masturbation).

At the Super Wal-Mart, they have a greater SW toy selection.

I'm just sayin. I was in the aisle long enough to register dullard's interest, spreading quickly to his impressionable son. "It's a DV potato head! DT!"

A maul also means a kind of two-handed mace that was used in medieval Europe by peasants forced to fight for their lord, but I seriously doubt that's what George Lucas had in mind when he named him.

Sidious for 'subtly dangerous and threatening' works better when the guy is actually subtle, dangerous or threatening. Between his whole "My apprentice Lord Maul" "Welcome back, Lord Tyrannous(Tyrannous, as in tyrant - man these names suck)" act he's got all the subtlety of being bashed to death with a housebrick.

As for the maul - it's called a maul because it mangles and destroys thing.

(I was just asking if they were meant to mean something in particularl in Dutch)

I think the naming skills of George Lucas went downhill at Salacious P. Crumb - but these days with Jimmy Smits and Darth Tyrannous (I mean, honestly, that sucks) i think we can say:

Lucas is bunk.

What else is new?

and BTW, what exactly is everyone's problem with Jimmy Smits, anyway? I hardly know who that guy is and I never even noticed him in the films until people over here mentioned him.
