I've been spending a great deal of time lately on Google Maps. Sure, on the surface it looks like it's just some lame MapQuest wannabe attempt but the real difference is that if you click on the "Satellite" feature you can see satellite images of Earth!

For example here's the exact location where the Brothers Redcloud met Bruce Campbell on that fateful day a few years ago: Providence Public Library

So it's quite easy to while away the hours by simply thinking of places and then finding them on the map. Firstly you can find your house and then be like, "Hey, it's my hosue but from ABOVE!" Then you can find famous places you've been and be like, "Hey, it's the Washington Monument but from ABOVE... and TINY!" It's completely redefining the way I waste my time on the Internet!

NOTE: Apologies to those of you outside of North America... the coverage outside North America is not quite up and running yet. Let's hope it is soon so we can spy on all our Australian and British friends!!

Google Maps rules!!! It's only in beta (and probably will be forever) but already kicks Mapquest's arse. Google Suggest is pretty cool too.

Area 51 is blacked out, I already checked.

Look left...(west)...and see the Grassy Knoll

Area 51 is only blacked out on the closest setting. You can still see it if at the second closest setting (I think).

hmm, it also seems to be over two years old, since it includes a building that isn't there anymore.

Cool, but they need a feature that is more exact for addresses, like:

Address:
City:
State:
Zip:

This is where I live!

Actually, it's just to the left of the little pointer thing, which for some reason is not pointing right at the building.

yeah, I've tried many addresses in it and for some reason they're all a little bit off (like say, the address of Keebler's building gets a result that is the adjacent building). weird.

My parent's house is always off no matter which mapping/sattelight system you use.

Odd how the military air base across the street from my house is easily veiwed from this website. Anyone planning DIY international espionage lately?

Damn this thing is detailed though, right down to giant rocket monument on the west gate.
We here affectionally call it the 'giant dildo at the west gate'.

Have you ever used Google Maps? Have you ever used Google maps on weed? You can see little people in whatever windows are showing if you look really hard.
