But if Palpatine is lurking around suspiciously, why wouldn't Ben hack him to pieces too, seeing as he's on a roll?

And he can't say give me your hand at that point - because it seems we are led to believe there are no hands at all at that point.

Yah, but if Ben is surfing on this lava or pushes Anakin into it or whatever, he's going to be around when Palpatine turns up, because he's got a pretty limited window to rescue the boy before he is drowned in molten hot liquid magma.

I am 100% against any of this "vision clouding" nonsense, but theres no doubt that this is what will be used as the excuse.

I think they're going to try to say that Anakin crawls out of the lava or some such bullshit, but when he's just killed his girlfriend, is missing all of his limbs, and has comitted myriad horrific crimes, one would assume that he would opt to say "Aw fuck it" and just sink.

Not if he really enjoyed his crimes, and thought what he was doing was just and right.

I disagree about you as far as the "vision clouding" thing. We know that Jedi and Sith can practically read your thoughts and emotions if they're particularly strong. Like the throne room scene. If you try, you can conceal your thoughts and emotions. I see no reason why you can't do the same with your force vibes that Jedi and Sith give off.

As far as the force vibes: Like when Luke and Co. are approaching Tattoine, Vader and Luke can sense one another, even though they have no way of knowing the other are there. The stronger you are with the force, the more vibes you give off. Like when the Death Star blew up that planet. Obi-Wan could easily sense that.

I'm sure that Dark sith are like ringwraiths, they make people feel scared and insecure just by thier prescense, just because of the vibes they give off.

Yeah you're right. IF Anakin had the proper motivation it could be a pretty moving scene where he claws his way ouf of the lava with the shear strength of his will. However it seems to me that Anakin isn't going to be given that kind of motivation.

"This guy killed and raped my family" is a good motivation to do that sort of thing.

"Obi Wan won't let me stay out past midnight" is not.

There was no podrace either. It was all a force clouding fantasy we saw with Watto.
