Hmm, my problem is somewhat different, as I'll either be packing to go back to uni, or going to the pub. Either way, don't put your money on me being there. Sorry! sad.gif

Well I don't blame you, I'd rather be out getting shit faced than sitting inside on the computer. Maybe I should move to Canada so I can buy alcohol when I hit eighteen in a few months.

As for the few people still wanting to play, be at my server tommarow at 8:00PM! I'll wait fifteen minutes for someone to show up, then down goes the server for that day!

There's a time in place for jokes, and that was one of my bad ones.

I don't mind drinking every once in a while, but I don't like people who get drunk every damn weekend and talk about it the next day like it was the best thing that every happen to them.

Yeah, I knew that was a joke. It wasn't as bad as mine though. I wasn't even approaching funny.

Fuck. I have a problem. My computer is shit. I turned literally everything off on the graphics department (and I mean EVERYTHING, all that was left were bare white textures), and the game still ran slow as shit. My computer sucks balls, so I unfortunately have to postpone my membership until I get a new computer (my dad's been promising one for ages...).

I did everything right, just for the record. It was definitly Doomsday I was running.

Ooh, Heretic, Is it too late to get involved in this?

From what I remember of Jheretic you just needed the wad file from Heretic to run it, not the entire game. That should skip over any need for dosbox etc.

Only downside I can remember is that Heretic has no deathmatch maps, just the standard ones with a few extra weapons. That, and the fact that I'd have to join the server at 1am on saturday morning (after the pub), so my aims going to be Rum afflicted. pirate.gif

Well, guess who's laptop won't actually run Heretic then. Go on, I bet you can't guess...

Never's too late to join. As long as you don't mind trying to work a mouse at 1am drunk. No, you don't need Dosbox at all. Just download Doomsday and try to run Heretic off of it, Doomsday, then, will ask you if you want it to automatically check for the heretic.wad file. Of course, make sure you have Heretic (any version, except shareware) installed on your computer at the time. Doomsday will search for it, if it finds it then you should be good to go.

I know of a couple good maps that would be good for multiplayer I've searched up and down for.

Let me know if you really do want to play, and I'll get back to the Heretic schedule I noted on the site and add you to the list.

Damn, sorry man. I don't see why it wouldn't run. Did you run Heretic off of Doomsday? It should run wonderfully. If you want, instant message me sometime and I'll see if I can help.

Guess what guys. Heretic is no longer the only game we can play multiplayer on. Did you happen to see what games were listed on Doomsday and which ones it ran? I have ALL of them (I'm such a fucking geek), so if you have any of the games below, let me know...

SHAWNATHANS OLDSCHOOL MULTIPLAYER LIST:

-Heretic: Shadows of the Serphant Riders (six episode version)

-Hexen (including expansion)

-Doom

-Doom II

-Final Doom

Y'know, I've noticed I'm seventeen and still remember these games. Many people my age have no clue what the hell I'm talking about when I say "Heretic" or "Hexen".

Alright, I'm In, clearing the friday night schedual. Drink or no drink, it's time to show you kiddies the business end of the hellstaff.

Quick point from the light dodgers in games tech, apparently WinXP might be a factor when running the base heretic, though as Shawnathan pointed out JHeretic should run fine. (kicks.exe should do most of the hard work) Got a couple of the test monkeys working on the setup, just in case. If your running any antivirus or firewall (anything that prevents scanning) Switch it off first.

As for the list, It'll be a fade backe to the the geek depths for me, but hell, I've crawled out that abyss once before, I'm more than happy to decend again in the name of digital violence.

(after all this posturing I expect to die horribly)

Doom? Kickass! Once I work out how the hell to get Doomsday to work properly (I wasn't using it before, but its just being difficult now), and find a copy, I'm in there...
