It's a debate as old as time itself and comparable with debates like 'Beatles Vs. Stones' and 'Star Wars Vs. Star Trek'. I've been mulling over this for a while now, but I read at Idiotic Inc. that Shawn likes Mario better, so I decided to see what everyone thinks.

Personally, I like Sonic better. I think it's much too easy to die in Mario, especially the first one. Plus hedgehogs rock.

MARIO, that's it. I don't have to tell you why. It's just the way things are and the way it should be.

I can still hum most of the songs from the original Super Mario Bros.

When i was younger sonic was the king of games,
but now i think mario the fat italian plumber who cant run fast and wears frog and racoon suit's (must of been a tight fit) is the best character of all time.

It seems Mario has aged more gracefully, but if I stack up the NES+SNES+N64 marios (some of which i've never even played blushing.gif ) with the Genesis+Dreamcast Sonics... for some reason i just like the Sonic games better. Just a matter of taste. With all due respect to Mario and all his various projects.

Sonic : Wholesome highspeed Entertainment, saves cute animals from evil machines and mostachiod meglomaniac.

Mario : Mobidly obesse individual who looks like a dodgy pornstar, dresses like a hillbilly, and commits koppa genocide whilst luring kids into the dnagerous world of mushroom consumption. I'm not even going to go into depth about his habit of hanging out in drainpipes.....

Laughlyn's right, Mario is a horrible influence on kids. I've wondered about his mushrooms for a while...

Sorry mate, grew up with Sonic. Have to vote for him.

Besides I have a much more easy time beliving that sonic (whos back is made up in spicky sharp spikes) can jump on an enemy to kill it that I do Mario (whos only advantage is being fat).

For those of you who are Sonic fans, I highly reccomend both "Sonic CD" and "Sonic and Knuckles Collection". Both are for PC. Sonic CD is one made for PC and some Sega CD thing. Sonic and Knuckles Collection has Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles. I have the latter installed on my PC and I'm going to try some speed runs on the first levels. Thier great for people who don't want to go buy old Sega consoles. Check on E-bay.

As far as Kirby's comment; it doesn't really matter how the enemies die, as long as thier a smoldering heap of rubble by the end of the day.

Were you completely sober when you wrote this, Laughlyn? I had to edit it profusely before I could put it as my sig.

Is this rhetorical?

How can a blue hedgehog be better than an Italian plumber with a surname the same as hs first name?

I'll have to go with Sonic as well. Sure, you got those Mario Party games, but they don't compare to the insane difficulty of Sonic Shuffle.

As a family, we here grew up with the blue hedghog to our name. And having sampled some classic Mario on the GBA my brothers somehow acquired, I have to say: bombing through a level of one of the early Sonic games in 30 seconds flat is hell more fun than going "Shit! I need to eat a mushroom, or that mushroom there's gonna kill me!"

For the record; No. I was trying to type one handed whilst holding a pint and a cigarette. But that's what happens when they put internet access in the union.

He just is, that's how.

What exactly is the 'Sonic Shuffle'? Some 80's dance?
